According to a report by a Washington DC area newspaper, both the plane manufacturer and the airline that operated the defective aircraft are denying legal responsibility for the incident.

Similar to Kodak, historically one of the USA biggest companies in both the Home consumer market and government contracts (world war and Cold War espionage), they failed to adapt and went bankrupt. Boeing isn’t safe from that outcome either, Kodak was replaced by Fuji Film and Boeing is replaced by Airbus
