It's surprising what a $500m bung can get you by way of exclusivity on the 777ER/X. Up until that point, both RR and P&W were easily outselling the GE model. Ain't it funny that the CEO of GE at the time went on to become CEO at Boeing after a stint at 3M.

I live in france, home of airbus, but the 777 is by far my favorite airplane, safe, powerful, financially excellent for airliners and above all a majestic, beautiful airplanes, i think i decided to study embedded systems engineering for airplanes only after being in a 777 300ER haha ^^. The 777X is going to be the next most successful long-hauler :).

This video is awesome, brings pride to the Pacific Northwest and the entire country. I remember as a kid watching the PBS special on the building of this jet. I watched it at least 10 times and have been searching for a copy of it on DVD, no where to be found. But its always nice to watch the clips i see here and there. Its the first time I ever saw an RTO cert and was in awe. Thanks! KEEP IT UP!

Job well done! My whole family has been pilots, and I will be within 2 years. My dads an Anerican Airlines Captain and has been flying 42 years. Hes stated that if was moved to an Airbus, he'd quit flying. He's flown everything from you B-17 to the B777. He's got 10 years on the B777 now and they really are great airplanes!

Most comfortable plane I've ever flown on. I had an entire row of seats on an emergency exit row to myself (extra leg room), and it was in coach. For the first time flying, I had almost no anxiety.

Fortunately I had the opportunity on July 25 to be in the plant of the Boeing Everett Tour the foundation of the future of the factory of Boeing, which saw the construction of the B787; B777 and B737 freighter, of which I am very proud because in flew past the B720, B707 and Boeing 727-200 of this great American company for commercial aircraft. Boeing mechanics will never be redundant or outdated. Not 10 years from now, not 100 years from now. There are too many tight spaces and little nooks and crannies where the only tool able to do the job is a human hand. Behind frames, under stringers and floor beams, etc. And if Boeing learned its lesson from outsourcing everything on the 787, their engineers will never be redundant either.

We did an hour long interview at flightpodcast. com with Captain Eric Moody from BA who had all four engines shut down in an ash cloud over Java back in the 80's, and he lamented about the different manufacturers of aircraft. He said of his tour of airbus, they weren't really excited about their product and only really concerned on technology. On his tour of Boeing, he was in awe of how passionate all the staff were about building planes; leading to his love of Boeing. Well done Boeing.
