Boggles-the Feywild denizen created by the loneliest of creatures (D&D Compendium of Monsters)

Boggles are mischievous Feywild creatures from D&D 5e that love to play pranks on hapless individuals. However, boggles are created from a lonely or abandoned creature and-despite enjoying their creator’s anguish at pranks-boggles provide a weird sort of companionship.
But don’t think that makes boggles immune to my criticism. Non-flammable oil secreting from their skin? I’ve got a few opinions about that and none of them flattering.

The fact they tried to make Boggle’s oil non-flammable feels like both a missed opportunity to make them little gremlin fire starater, and a blatant attempt to avoid player shenanigans.

Shadowfell isn’t really a lonely sad, it’s more dead and emotionless. There is a difference. So hard disagree that boggles should be from the shadowfell. Also it could be poor wording that the oil is just really hard to ignite, oil suffocating a fire because it’s too cold isn’t unheard of such as the fuel for warships. Boggle oil protecting against a measly fire bolt is certainly plausible, it’s not like it has the hit points for scarier attacks to have a different result. Being unable to speak common is weird though. Overall, I think their flavor is neat.
