Kibble can be more nutritional then home made food that people eat now a days. Also it is real handy when the out door adventure time comes and there's no fridge or stove to cook that raw foods, only miles and miles of wilderness.

Thank you for the education. Orion has been on Hill’s Perfect Weight and Joint Support since March. He’s already loss weight. This has been a game changer for him. Six years ago he had a cruciate tear in both knees and had surgery. Unfortunately gained a lot weight and loss it. Then gained it all back we tried so many options everything from raw to cook to prescription weight management food. No luck. Until I found your channel and you discussed Perfect weight and the nutrition benefits. I have been walking him every day mostly short walks what he could handle. Well he was able to go all the way to end of our street and back which he hasn’t been able to do in over a year. He’s doing so well on Hill’s.

Oh hey I caught this one early! Thanks for the excellent breakdown! I’ve been watching through your channel lately and I’m glad to catch one day of and leave a comment for the almighty algorithm. I used to work in a pet store when I was younger and I’ve just switched careers from a human med tech to working as an ERA and I’m absolutely astounded by the amount of blatant lies and misinformation in the pet food advertising industry. It really floored me how many I should have caught having a background/education in medicine, but I didn’t even think twice about because of persistent and clever marketing. Please keep making videos like this! They speak for themselves in how much better they explain what’s going on with nutrition than those nebulous, holistic channels you mentioned.

Purina has joined the relief effort. They have donated $25,000 to a relief organization. In addition to providing the $25,000 grant, Purina is working with several of its US-based manufacturing facilities to ship thousands of pounds of Purina pet food and cat litter to pet shelters and pet owners in impacted communities.

After three years of falling for the "ingredients" marketing camp and being so stubborn about science diet - I've decided to throw that line of thinking into the trash. In the past, I did try Hill's but little did I know at that time - they had a lot of food AND environmental allergies. Hence, it did not work and I just automatically blamed Hills. My vet recommended Hill's d/d for both my akita's - they are very, very sensitive. The prescription is in and I am slotted to start their new diet next week. Wish us luck!

Please let us know how it goes. Hydrolyzed diets are another option too!

@@PetFoodPuzzleGuy Will do. Also want to note, I now know food, at least in my case, is not going to be the savior. Both my pups are now on apoquel and depending on how they do this season, we may be seeing a animal dermatologist. But I feel so much better now knowing the calcium and phosphorous levels are balanced. This may be saving us a ton of vet bills down the line.

@@isabellamafud I think you should consider Derm Complete if seasonal allergies are present. It does limit food allergens but also normalizes the immune response to environmental allergens with quercitin and other antioxidants.

Out of curiosity how long has kibble been around for? I would imagine close to a century? If kibble was really so bad, I don’t think it would have lasted this long.

The cat family, Felidae, has been on Earth for about 10 - 15 million years. The domestic cat ancestor, arrived about 3 million years ago. The current domestic cat shares 95% of its DNA with the Siberian Tiger. They all managed to survive without kibble. Happy Caturday!

Thank you so much! I have learned so much from your channel and AnimalDocRae! we just recently switched to hills lamb formula, trying to rule out a chicken sensitivity with our dog. I noticed the calcium was a little more than some of the other proteins (1.09)…do you think that is still in a good range? When I was researching and talking with my vet, it looked like lamb had the least amount of other protein sources…just chicken fat (which I remember you saying that doesn’t have the same affect since it’s not the actual protein from the fat). Thanks again for all your work and info!
@PetFoodPuzzleGuy5 күн бұрын
Yes, I noticed that with the Lamb in other brands too. Lamb must just deliver a bit more calcium perhaps? Not excessive though. how is it working out?

Oh, believe me I wish he did well! It would be cheaper to feed him. I have tried several brands that I am comfortable feeding him, and he gets itchy all over, breaks out in spots, has ear and eye discharge, etc. When I feed him fresher food, he has more energy and his skin and coat don't itch.
