Growing up in South Texas I was told that kids drink Corona but a Gentleman drinks Bohemia. It could be that Monterey is paesano to where I grew up but it is the home of Mexican club soda, Topo Chico.

Appreciate it, dude! You and about a half dozen others mentioned this as their favorite, and I see why. As Zion Forman said, it definitely drinks like an almost German-like pale lager. That malt character is really nice. I look forward to the elite eight thing, too. I might need your help if I can't get any help locally. I'd pay you to send the eight bottles (assuming you can get all of them), or even a few of them. We'll see. I will definitely get the community involved with pairing down the eight finalist, then figure out seeding. Should be fun! Cheers, Rick!

I think a Helles NCAA Bracket with four German beers, and four American beers, would be awesome. The final would be USA vs. Germany. I think it'd be unfair because the American stuff would be fresher, though. Still, I think it'd be fun! Cheers again, buddy!

Bohemia Pilsner is not dark in Mexico, it's actually yellow, almost like a NEIPA, and the label is red not orange, it's the best though...

👍👍 I am glad this beer lived up to the hype. Bohemia is my dad’s favorite Mexican beer so it was one i tried first before Corona and all the other beach lagers. It became my favorite as well. Certainly can taste the Central European influence in this one. Less corny, more floral and malty. Sadly I can’t find it in my area anymore…damn shame. I like the tourney idea. Maybe start out with Oktoberfest beers? Cheers! 🍻

Thanks, Dan! Yeah, as Zion Forman said, I feel like it drinks almost like a German lager of some sort. It's crazy how rich the malt character is. It's a damn shame you can't find it anymore, though. Oktoberfests would be fun, for sure. Maybe I'll be able to do Mexican lagers and then quickly pivot to the Oktoberfests. We'll see. Cheers, man!

If you could do it blind even better but I get how that would be tough. I couldn’t do a blind match up. I’d have to have a friend stop by to mix them up for me. Also, I think I will use my community tab to have friends/viewers of the channel pick the eight beers, along with the seeding. I feel like it'd be a fun interactive series, for sure. Its the best mexican beer sold here in the states. Strong characteristics really taste it in your pallet. Modelo taste better from mexico the cans are all white no logos just white

It's probably my favorite at this point. Love that it stands out a bit from the rest, and the flavor profile is much more in tune with what I enjoy. I've heard that about Modelo, so I believe you. Would be fun to try the Mexican version of Modelo. Cheers, man!

to me, this is the most German like Mexican pale lager. At least most mass-produced one. Firestone Walker makes a really good Mex lager. pretty much in every gas station around here. and yeah, always check the bottle dates to ensure freshness.

Yeah, exactly why I kept saying "Helles Lager," because it really did remind me of one. Never had the FSW, so if I see a relatively fresh can, I'll give it a go. I meticulously check dates. I don't mind drinking some older stuff, but I've had so many comments from folks freaking out if I don't review a beer uber fresh that it's a habit. That said, beers like this can hold up until their freshness date, as long as they're kept correctly. Really haven't had an issue with any of the Mexican Lagers, mostly because they sell quickly. Unfortunately, the vast majority come in clear bottles, which sucks. Look cool, though. Cheers, dude!

I say, to hell with the Basketball bracket stuff.....and to hell with buying three singles, that will cost as much as a 6 pack. Buy a 6 pack of all the mexican beers, and then review each one. Then decide which beers are similar, and then do beer battles of 2-3 beers, and do the blind, mix them up, so you dont know what it is. Tecate has been going down pretty good, my cans seem to say, brewed in Mexico all over it, but who knows....human beings, are not very trustworthy.....Macro Mondayo!!!

If I do it, I'm definitely going the NCAA Bracket route. No way I'm buying 8+ six packs of different beers. Too much money ... and too much beer, which is an issue right now. Not sure how I'd handle it, but can't do it that way. I'm going to have viewers of the channel vote on the top-eight ones to review, and then have them vote on the seeding, too. I think it's fun for channel interaction. Not going to take it too seriously and just enjoy it, ya know? I've had most of the Mexican Lagers, though. Cheers!

@@averagejoe716 Just an idea...get/use some colored glassware, like an all black glass, that you taste from. And, then maybe. just to display the color of the beer, pour like 5-6 ounces in a small glass. So after you mix the beers up, you wont be able to tell by color

Gotta put the Guatemalans in there and put Famosa as well. However… if you can get Victoria or Tecate brewed in Mexico, those are built different than the ones brewed in America.

I don't think we get Famosa here, but I'd have to check. Yeah, I'd imagine that goes for quite a few of the Mexican lagers. Would be cool to try the Mexican-brewed ones. Cheers, buddy!
