I'm so surprised I hadn't realised you've not done the dutch door before! I've done them for years and love them, hope you enjoy it! TIP for you, to avoid having those raw edges from the cut pages, keep the top 'layer', don't cut it off with the rest. Then glue it down, covering that whole top bit. So you would do your tracker on this glued piece. So everything is hidden and it also helps so that the top isn't way thinner than the rest of the book. You can also cut them a little longer and then glue each one down before covering with the last page if you want to keep page strength! I've also alternated before, one month the tracker would be at the top, the next at the bottom, so that the book is a bit more even! Hope this helps!! xoxo from New Zealand.

So happy to see these videos again!!! I decided that I really don’t enjoy cutting Dutch doors. Too stressful. So, I do a habit tracker vertically down the side then fold pages to give the Dutch door rather than cutting. I do my habit tracker top to bottom on half the page then fold all the other pages in half to write vertically and fold the pages over each other in order to always see the tracker.

This could be the layout I need to get my life focused & on track. Thank you for share and allowing yourself to be transparent. I love watching your videos for many reasons, one being that you show the ups & downs where others edit so that only the perfect is shown. When I make my Dutch door layouts, I cut with a nice pair of regular scissors. Then put a ruler near the binding and hold down, and tear against it. Works pretty well. You want a little bit of an edge so the binding doesn't come undone.

and the Bujo Queen trembles :D It is okay. Yes, shaggy happens. I tend to cut close and then use a very nice washi to set the base pages so they don't tear out. I also use those tabs you grabbed and ALWAYS trim them , both the clear parts and the colored part. I use a sharpie to write on them...no smearing. You did the right thing:D Nice to see you back up and running...and fun.

I would just cut the excess Orange tabs off from the top. I have been using post it tabs in my bullet journal for 3 years now and that's what I do to keep them from sticking out the sides of my note book too far. I cut them so that they are flush with the notebook cover that I use.

Not sure if it would’ve worked in this case, but you also might consider using the scraps from your dutch door cutting to cover the tear/any mishaps you have. The washi tape looked great imo, but I just thought I’d offer another way to fix a problem!

Ohmygosh, I have paper cutting tips! I was shouting at my phone (with love) to use a finger exacto, and then you opened yours, lol! I recommend a small self- healing cutting mat, and the rotary cutter. I've had the same mat for over 20 years, they're awesome. And the more you use the exacto the better you'll get, use a metal ruler if you get the rotary for straight lines. I'm going to try Dutch doors for the first time this month too, and even though I'm currently using a discbound planner, I'm just as scared to start cutting! Eeeeek!

I've only done one version of Dutch door. It was more of a vertical layout where I cut off the left and right sides of the page spread. And the Dutch doors are in the very middle where the binding is. But I really liked how yours turned out.
@maganlewis96635 жыл бұрын
Love this. Those cut edges in the middle would be gone!! Is it wonky to right on the top page (unlevel under right hand) or do you cut as the weeks progress? I am visualizing several Dutch doors, like Kara has here.)
@khsmiles5 жыл бұрын
@@maganlewis9663 I cut all the Dutch doors at once. I did it for about two weeks of days. I did my dailies in the middle/Dutch doors themselves. Then I used the sides for a mini calendar and a readathon tracker I was participating in that month. I've been wanting to do it again. I was thinking I'd do it for the Oct 14-20 to keep track of Spookathon. @khiggs_ute on Instagram if you want to see that later in the month.

I like the idea of Dutch doors, but I really don't want to thin out sections of my notebook by cutting chunks out. I'd probably just make the horizontal cut and try to find a use for the top sections, something independent from the lower sections. And then paperclip them together so the main/most frequently used one is the one that automatically shows up when I open my spread. Too much work for me, though, since I really don't need that much organisation right now 😂

@jumble33565 жыл бұрын
What I would have done would be to cut that first page but leave that top habit tracker bit attached. I then would have cut off all of the subsequent page tops and then glued that bit down to cover and reinforce all the page cuts. So the top of the first page (where you first thought you had 'mistakenly' drawn out the habit tracker) would have been glued to the top of the last page. Bam! No cut seams visible and a reinforced top section. It's much easier sometimes to see things as a spectator. My last plan with me on my other channel I spent 5 minutes looking for something that was right in front of me.
