Great to see a crawfish boil recipe that won't kill all my taste buds with overwhelming spiciness! I've eaten crawdads my whole life (I'm 73) and would never eat them Cajun style until seeing this video. I love Louisiana hot sauce (Trappey's brand) for it's flavor, not it's hotness. I just saw a video where the guy dumped a whole bottle of that liquid seasoning you used in the pot with a large amount of powdered seasoning and then watched them all trying to act like they enjoyed eating that crap with tears rolling down their cheeks! YOU used three cap fulls! That's what a REAL chef would do so you can taste everything! Also watched a video by a self proclaimed expert that said purging was unnecessary and claimed he would delete any "trolls" comments who said it was! WOW! Thank you for your sensible approach to this fine cuisine without all the hype about eating outdoors on newspapers and having a pickup load of crawdads for thirty cousins while trying to keep the cayenne pepper industry in business single handedly! I subscribed. BTW, those girls are adorable!

I live alone in Australia and would like to have the recipe on how to step by step prepare the crawfish boil for two people. Here in Australia, we call the crawfish, YABBIES and they are freshwater mini lobsters... To do this on a budget and in the home, would be very good for me... Thank you for the time and effort to show how its done..

Love the video. Only change I did was put about half a bag of ice in the pot after I cut the fire off the crawfish to stop the cooking while sitting and added the veggies back to soak. Not necessarily needed because the way y'all did it was just as good. That's the beautiful thing about cajun/southern cooking...you can't go wrong by doing things a lil different! But I didn't see no head sucking and it hurt my soul...but to each his own lmao

Brining is not actually the same as purging. Brining is using salt and water to preserve food. It is used to make pickles and sauerkraut. It is left in salt water for days at a time. It is not the same as putting something in for 10 minutes to lean it.

Saltwater kill's the freshwater creatures I think... Why wouldn't just water work for cleaning?
@cajuncousinscooking6581
@cajuncousinscooking6581 6 жыл бұрын
Will Ritchie , Crawfish come from fresh water mud ponds. That’s why some people call them “mud bugs” . When they go into the salt water it makes them “Kick” when they “Kick” they kick the mud off of themselves. It’s just an old Cajun Process I learned a long time ago. Some people just wash them with fresh water, but I find with the salt they come out cleaner. I just like my Crawfish clean when I put them into the boiling pot. You can do it either way. It’s just a personal preference. Anyway thanks for watching the video and asking a great question. Thank You 😎😎😎
