That letter from Storm to Katie was letting his little sister know what he's doing for her. He's sacrificing his life and heart to save Katie's. Storm will shoot himself(committing suicide in other words) and as his special gift to Katie Storm gifts Katie his heart. That's why she's in the hospital right now. And Storm's letter to Katie was his goodbye letter of sacrifice for her with the gift of his heart which is now beating inside of Katie and Storm's daughter Flo got to feel her late father's heart. And then later on when Katie suffers from kidney failure her niece Flo Storm's daughter gifts her Aunt Katie Logan with one of her kidneys. Flo has so much of Storm in her and what she did for her Aunt Katie was exactly what Storm did here.
