Despite the story coming out of nowhere, the Thorne/Brooke scenes are played pretty well. Glad they're over. I originally began watching in mid 2000 and really shipped them at the time, and felt so gaslit when the show broke them up (I hadn't watched soaps long enough to learn not to get attached to anything 😂). Watching it now years later and knowing Brooke/Ridge's story pre- and post-Throoke, their whole saga feels contrived, ick, and kind of boring. Their only substance was based on fighting to be together, but the writers clearly didn't know what to do with them once that actually occurred.
