@@Esi-741 As much fun as it would be if these characters would always lose half of their shares to the spouses, the B&B writers decided to follow the CA divorce rules. Donna in 2010 got lucky because of that and the fact that Eric bought shares during their marriage.

The fact is that the writers had to come up with such a complicated plot and that the Forresters hadn't been able to give Brooke the money that invention was worth/ the profits and that they couldn't fight it at court for years, the company not wealthy enough for that. It would have been a stretch from reality but still much easier and less soapy, if Brooke just could have walked away from her marriage from Eric with 25% of FC shares (half of Eric's half). And if they had changed the rules that way (ignoring CA divorce rules), they would have optened up the door for Eric to get half of Stephanie's shares the next time he will divorce her.
