El caballo tenía un problema en uno de los cascos delanteros y los fraccionales fueron de espanto 22 y 3/5 400 mts 45 flat los 800 mts y 1:09 flat los 1,200 bien llegó luego le colocaron parcho de goma y herradura especial para aliviar casco irritado quater crack y con las 3 semanas de descanso para el Belmont Stakes les limpió el pico ganando de punta a punta la más larga de las 3 carreras a milla y media 2,400 metros en 2.29 1/5 magistral guia de JR Cordero

Nunca ví esta carrera. Es impresionante que Bold Forbes remontó sobre Play The Red para quedar a solo el pescuezo del segundo. Pasó los 3/4 en 1:09 flat con 126 libras. ¡Bromeas!

Bold Forbes del Ponce stable y Tinajero del Clinton stable. Han sido los dos mejores caballos que han salido de Puerto Rico. No hay duda de eso.

The horse that really lost out that year was Thermal Energy. Charlie Whittingham said he could have been one of the greats- in his first start of the year he hooked up with Bold Forbes in the San Vincente and blew him away- they ran as a team for 5 fur and then he opened up on the field and won easily. A week later he took a bad step in training and was out the rest of the year- he returned in 1977 but was never even 50%

Jr. Cordero solo montó a Bold Forbes en esta carrera para ganarse a Honest Pleasure y su Jinete Braulio Baeza. Esa es la única razón para que Bold Forbes no fuera triple coronado. Un caballo desarrollado en Puerto Rico.

Too bad Doug O'Neill didn't watch this before telling Mario Gutierrez on Nyquist to go all-out on the front end today in the Preakness. What the heck was he thinking? The Nyquist ride and the rides on Bold Forbes and Honest Pleasure have got to be some of the most bone-headed pieces of race-riding in Preakness history. Oh well.
