this episode inspires me so much in terms of storytelling. The way that, despite how kurapika, gon and killuas arcs have been seperated, gon and killua still manage to be brought into the fold in a very natural way that entwines so perfectly, and just the dramatic irony of how they literally DON'T know who the troupe is talking about, even though they DO know him. It's just so perfect to see all the chess pieces come together, which is what I also love about the Chimera Ant arc

When Nobunaga asks Killua "Who taught you to shadow people?", the answer would be Killua's family. Since he knows he shouldn't risk lying, he deflects by saying it was just Zetsu. This way, when Nobunaga insists by asking again "Who taught you how to do that?", Killua's answer can be about who taught him nen to keep his own identity a secret.

What an incredible episode, what a excellent reaction ! This episode as so much stake, so much importance, so much little details that makes the show so awesome and on the top. Love the discussion as always, you really understand what are behind the episode ! That tailing was one the most stressful and exhausting moment in HxH. Always on the edge of my seat and even screamed the first time when they saw them... So excited to continue this adventure with you!

Once again I love how there's no death note bullshit where people just pull information and god like plans out of their ass. Just characters acting based off the information they have access to. Even if they make wrong assumptions it's not because they're dumb, they're just human and can make mistakes.
@BOLDcast2 жыл бұрын
You’re so right. The fact that Gon didn’t learn from his mistakes, but Killua did, makes me appreciate their characters so much more. Those moments where characters are forced to act on their instincts and make split second, often poor, decisions is where you can really show off your characters.
@gaara_of_the_desert11182 жыл бұрын
@Brandon Gray Oh yes very true I realize I came off a bit hostile towards death note, I love watching characters like Light and L, and Senku from dr. stone but only because it fits their shows it's over the top for a reason. However when it shows up in most Shonen it's usually because the author was to lazy to think of a way for the character to succeed because they accidentally wrote themselves into a corner.

I love that you guys gave your own interpretation about this episode. Such excellent reaction! I've watched some other reactions to HxH and mostly they only "acted" surprised at the cool scenes only, which isn't bad but still kinda threw me off because there are so many little details (the storytelling, the foreshadowing, Killua's footsteps,...). Still, HxH isn't always about fighting tbh.
@DemPop2 жыл бұрын
The conversation you've had about characters having their own theories and coming up with their own half-correct conclusions is kinda HxH in a nutshell. Togashi loves doing that, in fact many times he'll focus on character thoughts and their imperfect information so much that a lot of watchers/readers get bored (the current manga arc more than ever). I just think it's brilliant, the way he manages to create these tense and hype situations that flow perfectly from what characters know and what their personalities are. HxH focuses on the fact characters aren't omniscient more than any other shonen I've seen.

and Gon forgot about what happened to him in the Hunter exam
@BOLDcast2 жыл бұрын
The best part is that Gon forgetting is a part of his character and a genuine writing choice by Togashi. He’s not making his characters dumb in the moment out of convenience to spur on the intended moment for the scene. We know that’s not the case because Killua HAS learned from his past and uses that information about Zetsu that he learned from Castro, and he discusses it in the very scene where they are talking about how Gon tailed Hisoka. Togashi didn’t need to add that but in about Zetsu, BUT HE DID. Why? Specifically to show us that the characters are capable of learning from their mistakes, and to assure us that the story is not going to just forget things to justify a big fight scenes. This makes us pay close attention to everything because the author is inviting us to trust their story.
@CR-hj2hk2 жыл бұрын
What a discussion...got me so excited ^^ and thanks for all the new observations I love that I'm still learning about this show Togashi is so amazing for real!!!! I like how Togashi writes characters' reactions in face of danger : Leorio and Gon have more of that typical shounen protagonist reaction 'let's attack first and we'll see' (just watched an early Naruto episode and ...GOD! I can't ...morons🤦♀) and most of the times in a realistic scenario they would/should die (but fsr they get away with it with a bs twist) ... More people I think/hope😅 would be like Killua : first estimate the enemy's powers (that Hisoka comparison was on point!) to find a strategy in order to defeat them! smart boy✨✨ HxH characters are realistically smart or reckless following their character's traits and background but never in a way that makes no sense plot-wise just to show that the hero is oh so powerful... and if they're reckless they can't expect to get out of it easily or without consequences...I really appreciate that Zoldycks entrance is pure hype ^^ and the little build up with Silva's advice gives you so much to anticipate in the future fights.. so well done! Killua hitting Gon LOL those particular Killua reactions are hilarious, hard to explain but so understandable 🤣🤣🤣🤣 The tension is so good in this episode!! When Nobu look at them my heart always stops! the soundtrack is on point! perfect! 18:32 I totally had the same reaction (still have actually)

i think it’s important to remember that kurapika became so strong in such a short time because of the restrains he made to fight specifically against the phantom troupe, which means he can’t use his power against other enemies
@hejti38942 жыл бұрын
not really, the only reason why Kurapika got so much stronger is that he trained way harder in meantime. Spoiler! The dowsing chain can be used against anyone, it can detect lies and be used as a weapon. Chain Jail is the only chain that is restricted to only Phantom Troupe. Judgment chail can only be used when in emperor time The holy chain can be used on anyone. Spoiler!!!!! The last chain can also be used on anyone but it requires emperor time.

@@hejti3894 i know that but i didn’t want to spoil them, still, almost all of his chains have a huge drawback on him. but what i mean is, he only defeated someone of uvo’s level because of his restrains, chain jail is the only chain useful in a combat and the absurd amount of nen that makes it almost unbreakable is because of the conditions. for example, kurapika stated that his enhancer abilities are barely stronger than uvos physical strength, if uvo wasnt from the phantom trupe i don’t think kurapika would have made it.

if only Gon and Killua didn't stop studying Nen during the heaven's arena arc, they could have develop their own technique just like kurapika, to actually be able to fight the phantom troupe member, of course they would still be outmatch, but atleast they had better fighting chance against them..
@drewkyriex28602 жыл бұрын
Gon and killua needed more experiences thats why they stop learning nen with wing.,., they learning nen by experiencing through life experiences and battles .,. the more experiences the more their nen stronger and discover their special abilities on their own

They would still get clapped, Kurapika is using cheats against them, without nen they are basically regular humans. In greed island arc when they finally start developing their hatsu they still have a lot of trouble fighting the bomber, and the bomber is nowhere near phantom troupe level.
