You can have great satisfaction knowing the pto is back in top shape and working as planned. The walking stick pad is a smart idea for a dust cover on the pto shaft. Thanks and take care Joseph

Glad to see the PTO installed - looks good. One suggestion I will offer is to engage the PTO lever (with the engine off) so the belts are pulled into the lower pulley grooves. Then use a 1/8" diameter drill bit or piece of 1/8" round rod (or metric equivalent) to verify there is a gap between the inner surface of the lower belt guard and the outer surface of the belts and pulley all the way around the lower guard - this will verify that the belts won't be rubbing on the guard when the PTO is engaged. If there is not enough clearance you should be able to adjust the belt guard so it drops a smidge - the bolt holes in the belt guard brackets are 3/8" diameter and the bolts used to hold the guard on are 5/16" diameter. This allows for a bit of adjustment so the belts clear the guard when the PTO is engaged but are still "trapped" by the guard when the PTO is disengaged so they don't try and turn the PTO shaft.

Thank you. It is times like this that I wish my hands were even smaller. We have fitted a few PTO's to tractors of the same model so we have got the hang of doing it now. The dust covers work very well, we will have to get more for our other tractors. Take care

Great series on the pto rebuild. And, those caps are perfect for the pto. I imagine they are much less expensive and much easier to find than the original covers.
@GardenTractorBoy8 ай бұрын
Thank you very much. The originals have not been obtainable for many years and are very hard to find now. It did take us a while to find a good alternative but they were not expensive, we should put a link in the description to help others with the same tractor. Take care

Well done Joseph, it’s always difficult to work in tight quarters 👍🏻. I use something similar for the PTO on my front mount quick hitch, it’s rubber feet for step stools except they are not as long as your model. Have a great week 👍🏻🙋🏼♂️🙂

Nice job fellas. Great idea on the dust cover. The original one looks like a steel chair leg cover foot. Great explaination. I like the two belt drive, I’ve often wondered why some of my pto driven equipment doesn’t have two drive belts, especially for the snow throwers and tillers. Have a great upcoming week. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋

Thanks for the great video Joseph. I’m about ready to put mine back in so your timing is again perfect. I really like the idea of the dust cover. Can you mention the manufacturer and where you got it so I could order some too! Could you also demonstrate how you adjust the PTO lever to get proper belt tightness on the PTO belts? I like 29Chevy well he has great stuff on garden tractor forum! got a love Bolens tractors. Thanks again, Steve.
@GardenTractorBoy8 ай бұрын
Thanks Steve. 29Chev has a huge amount of knowledge on Bolens tractors. We bought the dust covers from ebay, here is a link to the item www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284272832181 To adjust the PTO we aim to set the height of the PTO so that the belts start to tighten when the lever is 1-1/8 to 1-1/4 from the left side. In the comments 29Cheve has provided some great information about adjustments of the belt cover. Take care
