Indigenous craftsmen from Lake Titicaca in Bolivia are helping North American adventurer Phil Buck realize his dream: to cross the Pacific in a reed boat. They're using traditional materials and techniques to build the boat.

Well I think the technology would of been more then present, it doesnt mean they actually would by default succeed in their journey. Sure a lot of people that tried probably died

search and read a little be more and u'll find out interestin' data abt ancient cultures settled around here (highlands) ;)
