But the underlying music still comes from the Indian classical music which is thousands of years old. The structure of it is incomparable to any type of music. And all the Indian singers would have at least 5-15 years. And they go thru every possible combinations of sounds called 'Ragas'. Try "kehna hi kya" by K.S.Chitra. Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle are the ultimate, I will repeat it on a loop till I die, but the problem remains that their recordings do not have the same great modern sound engineering magic, due to the lack of technology in those days(which is an unfair disadvantage). I think I have shared earlier too, check out "Jab Jab Tujhe Bhulaya" from the movie "Jahanaara". It is a freaking masterpiece. If I could tell you to listen to one song to understand how good they were, this song is it, dude, period. Then, coming back to "Kehna hi Kya"... "Kehna Hi Kya" is from the 90's but it sounds quite modern and it is a composition by A.R. Rahman. The vocals are heavenly. They will make you cry.
