The main guy Raveer is one of the most charismatic actors bollywood has and he stages the face of a ruthless war mongering Emperor to perfection. I think now you have the gist why they are portraying those gestures.

There is simply no way you can have a film like The Matrix, Vertigo, Mulholland Drive, Schindler's List, or The Silence of the Lambs with S&D.
