I too love not having to go to gas stations any more. I drove like a mad man all yesterday and drove right home empty, plugged in, and went inside to have dinner. Awesome! Thx for the vid. I enjoyed watching.

Literally, the only serious fault in the Bolt is the charging speed. If GM made exactly the same vehicle with fast charging, at $30K, it would become the best selling vehicle in America.

Looked like that was going to be the equinox ev but they bumped the base price to $35k and removed CarPlay etc. maybe the new bolt in 2025.

@@TiredGuyReviews I think Chevy is going to have to either backpedal on the Carplay/Android Auto decision or proved that their proprietary alternative provides equal functionality without requiring a subscription. They may not know it yet, but it's going to be a deal breaker for lots of prospective buyers.

From an outsiders perspective, Chevy built a good evening at a good price, swapped batteries under warranty. The dealerships on the other hand seemed to sabotage sales. Maybe GM needs to create a separate dealership for just EVs. Stay safe.

Well if you think about it, it can also be a good thing. I’ve seen many premature battery failures because of people who only use 150kw+ chargers

I have a Tesla Model 3 and the Bolt was really the only other EV we were considering. I agree, once you go EV you don’t want to own ICE cars anymore, they are just such an amazing driving experience and low maintenance vehicles.

The biggest reason why I purchased my Bolt EUV in December was the free charging where I work at. I can charge my car 100 miles in 4 hours. I drive about 10 miles round trip Monday thru Friday. Plus, the car rides great for how cheap it was.

My 2023 Bolt EV is just over a year old now and it's the best car I've ever had. After the tax rebate, it cost me 19K out the door. I live in mountainous terrain in SE Alaska and in the summer I average 4.7 miles per kWh and winter about 3.5... so about 4 miles per kWh year-round. I had a 2014 Leaf before this and it was a great car as well. But this Bolt has been amazing.

Welcome to EV’s. I’ve had my 2014 still have it and I’ll have a 2020 Nissan leaf when I was going to get my 14. I was looking at the bolt and I was looking at the Nissan Leaf and the GM dealer didn’t think I could afford it, so I got to Leaf 🍃

I completely agree. The Bolt really is very capable and and flexible and I love the size and the higher seat height for ease of getting in and out of. Only real complaint is the slow charging speed making cross country trips rough. Regional travel is perfectly doable and I have been doing a lot of those trips and that is fine. I don't see anything else out there right now that I would consider yet as a replacement. I really don't like the look or functionality of the Tesla's. Only real advantage is the charging network from my perspective. That advantage is going away. GM has time to sort out the issues and battery/charging on the new Bolt. They need to rethink closing off Carplay and Auto. That will be a deal breaker. Just watching to see what will come.

Although I still wouldn't own an ev for my only car, I absolutely love my Bolt for a 2nd car. It's the funnest car to drive that I've owned and I love never stopping at gas stations or getting oil changes. Considering that I've driven my Prius for 8 years without ever having to change the break pads, I can't imagine that I would ever need to change them in my Bolt. The downside of the Bolt is that my heater never works even though I've tried to have the dealership fix it under warranty. Although the heated seats and steering wheel keep me plenty warm, I still need the heater to defog the windows when it's below about 20deg.

Pretty much same thinking as you, our third Bolt, will we buy another one - iffy. Don't care for the Equinox or Blazer, bought this Bolt, last two leased but if we keep this five years that's fine with me, it does everything we need, great price and for the occasional trip it's not bad.

We have both the Model Y and Bolt LT2 and I prefer it over the Y myself/ the wife drives the Model Y.. I charge it on my Level 2 Tesla charger at night and is always ready to go in the morning. If I have to travel over 200 miles I'm flying anyway. LOL The furthest I drive is about 160 miles and we just go eat, shop or go see a show and come out in it's ready to go. Once you have owned EV's for a while you don't even think about it anymore. Our pick-up cost $140.00 to fill up with gas. A little inconvenience is well worth the benefit.

I have a 2021 Bolt EV and love it. I'd like to get another so my wife and I don't need to fight over it (versus driving our minivan). While I like the styling of the EUV, I can't justify the lower range, less power, and higher cost versus the EV. What am I missing beyond the added rear leg room to justify the added cost?

Not sure why people care too much about peak charge. The most import is how long it takes to charge from 20% to 80%. Also the efficiency of the car, for example Bolt EUV or EV usually gets about four miles/KWh. This imply to half of electricity needed compare to 2 miles/KWh EVs to achieve the same range. For example Hummer EV 1mile/KWh, compare to Chevy Bolt would be multiply by 4 equal to 200KW peak charge. High peak charge will generate high losses from battery internal resistance. This means BMS will register more KWh than the actual KWh that stored in the battery. At one point the range will drop quickly because the actual KWh that stored in the battery is less than what was expected meaning the range prediction will be less that what was projected. Ultium Battery has large pouch cell with less battery internal resistance, meaning it has less effect during DC fast charge. Therefore you would get the range closer to what was projected from BMS after DC fast charge than the battery with higher internal resistance.
@TiredGuyReviews
@TiredGuyReviews 6 ай бұрын
I would agree that the charging curve is more important than peak charging. Unfortunately the Bolt is great with earthier. But things in general are changing and we will see cars with better peaks and curves. I need to see more in regards to the ultium platform, but what I’ve Seen so far hasn’t been that impressive.

My cousin got a Volvo XC40 electric because that’s the only one she didn’t see any quality issues with. She went to Tesla, 3 panels misaligned. Rivian couldn’t even get the center display to stop severely lagging. When she went to Fisker, half of the AC vents wouldn’t stop blowing air despite the car saying they were off. She then went to a Vinfast dealer and their cars made her carsick because of the really soft suspension. She hates the designs of all the Kia/Hyundai/genesis cars and she hates the design of the ford Mach e. She did consider the Bolt EV since she already drove a Spark EV as her first car, but she liked the higher ride of the Volvo so she got it and she says she absolutely loves the car.

What's the issue with everyone pointing out misaligned panels on Tesla vehicles? It has nothing to do with quality. Go ahead and look at any other car. There are gaps too. Tesla is well made. I drive one. Wouldn't touch a Volvo electric. The Volvo efficiency, range, power, vehicle entertainment/interface, and fast charging abilities lag behind the Tesla.

I currently have a 2016 Spark EV I love but if I came across an EUV I couldn't pass up I'd jump on it for sure. I wouldn't be too bothered by the slow fast charge speeds so I'd still but up for longer road trips. I think the EUV is a perfect size for me which is why I'm interested in the Volvo EX30 since they are very close in dimensions. Thanks for the videos they are helpful.

@TiredGuyReviews yep it does look like it's a bit tighter than my 2016 Spark EV rear seat room, but since I rarely have more than a single passenger I can overlook it. It's just too bad GM didn't keep the Bolts in use whilst they updated it.

All EVs have a usable range of 60% of their max range (need to charge as you get to 20% and typically charge limit to 80% unless doing a long road trip). Unlike gas that you can run near empty. Still like EVs for efficiency, but still can’t compete with range of ICE vehicles.

While I agree. Most driving done for most people is local. With a long road trip the minority of the time. Being able to “fill up” at home is underrated:

Opinions are feelings and doesn't have to factor in anything that is factual . But when you start saying what you consider factual , but your facts are incorrect , somebody's got to call you out brah . You are absolutely factual in stating that the Blazer ev is more expensive than the Tesla model y and just as incorrect about the Tesla having more range . The price of the Blazer ev has to come down , but it is a better vehicle than the Model Y in so many ways . I have driven both , the Blazer rides better and has more features and those big gangster wheels , "come on man" . I did purchase the Bolt euv for a daily driver and that lil sucker is perfect for its job . And I will wait a little bit to purchase my fast charging , long range vehicle , until the sodium ion battery is perfected .

The only thing the blazer has over the MY right now is it’s looks. I think there will be a lot of challengers to the MY coming up the blazer ev isn’t it. The stop sale GM put on it should say enough.

Tesla has had their share of issues as well , but I don't have a problem with that . That's just part of the game , but I do like the fact that GM was courteous enough to halt production and fix whatever needs to be fixed , instead of getting them to the public and having a massive recall . And yes beauty is in the eye of the beholder . So to my eyes the whole interior of the Blazer ev looks better than the empty closet looks of any Tesla interior . The whole exterior looks better than any Tesla as well , plus it can drive as far as any of em . But that's what I see , oh yeah if it has maintenance issues you can bring it to any GM dealership worldwide .
