My favorite feature that I just discovered is when you have the car in "D", (not the "L" single pedal mode), you can hit the regen button once really quickly on the back of the steering wheel after you stop at a light and it will hold the car in place until you hit the accelerator pedal again. No need to keep you foot on the brake, hold the button etc.

My wife was complaining about "not enough storage space" in the 2023 EUV for her grocery shopping vs our minivan. I've told her about the false floor and offered to take it out before she goes shopping. I'm glad to know I can just drop it to the bottom instead! Also the suggestion of sliding that thing into a plastic bag to provide a waterproof/dirtproof layer is awesome! The little hidden storage compartments at the side under the rear seats are cool and could be useful. I haven't used Auto Wipe in Reverse or Auto High Beams yet. Remote Window operation might be helpful every once in a while. Holding the home button to get back to Android Auto or Apple CarPlay will be GREAT! BTW, I've found the voice command button on the steering wheel to be almost entirely useless. I've tried asking it to navigate place or tell me the weather or call somebody and it never seems to understand me. I speak clearly and slowly without an accent. I end up doing everything through Android Auto and hitting the microphone icon on the infotainment system for that. Is anybody else frustrated with how useless the native voice command button is? I know that there are very few available built-in "apps" for the infotainment system and that if they need Internet access you'll have to either pay OnStar for that or use your phone as a hotspot and connect the car to that. I figure mostly people will use wireless Android Auto or Apple CarPlay for everything and just ignore the built-in Infotainment system and apps other than controlling things about how the car works. However, I saw somewhere that if you use "Google" from the Infotainment system to navigate to a DC quick charger then the Bolt should start "conditioning" the battery for DC quick charging about 30 minutes before you arrive. I haven't been able to find "Google" or "Google Maps" in the infotainment system or any indication that battery "conditioning" would happen en-route to a DC quick charger. My charging strategy based on everything I've read is to stay between 30-80% and mostly between 50-80% and only to charge when needed, not every night. I read that L2 is just as "gentle" on the battery as L1 and that you should only use L3 DC quick charging when on road trips and needing a lot of range in a quick stop. Only charge to 95% or 100% right before you leave for a road trip as it's rough on the battery and shouldn't be used on a regular basis (but fine for road trips when you want maximum range) and also you don't get regen braking unless you're below some percentage (some say 95%, some say 80%, I'm not sure on that). I'm thinking that "daily to 80" charging at home might be okay in cold winters when you want to "precondition" the cabin by turning on the heaters while the vehicle is still plugged in. I haven't tried turning on the car to "precondition" the cabin yet but my understanding is that you have to set the climate controls (temp and fan) before you turn the vehicle off so they'll resume that way when you turn it on remotely.
@BasicMike
@BasicMike Жыл бұрын
1. You're right when you say the native voice is pretty useless. There is a limited set of commands you can use. I suspect a full-on, get everything subscription to on-star will expand the command list. 2. I don't think you'll find a "Google Maps" app for the infotainment system. Chevy probably wants you to use their OnStar Navigator, which means that you'll have to subscribe to the WiFi capability. I just use my AndroidAuto. 3. You're right, again, when you say to keep your battery between 30 - 80 percent to preserve the battery life. However, Chevy has the best battery conditioning on the market. I recharge about every two weeks, typically to 95%, and will run the battery down to the last quarter of a charge. Keep in mind that your battery will wear out after so many thousands of cycles, no matter what. I wouldn't sweat it and just enjoy the car. 4. I use remote start (a.k.a. remote climate controls) on my car all the time. As a Floridian, I don't like to get into a hot car, and I especially don't want to have a hot car for my puppy after visiting the dog park. The Bolt remote start only runs the car for 20 minutes and then shuts off. So, regardless if you're plugged in or on battery, you should enjoy the cooled/warmed car before you get in. BTW: if you want to save even more energy, don't heat your car in the winter. Use the heated steering and seats instead. They use less energy. Lastly, I do have one major complaint with my infotainment controls. I wish I could see precisely how much energy I'm using and for what. When I had my version 1 Nissan LEAF, that was a big help in extending the range of my car. At an advertised 85 miles (really only about 60 miles), I could barely complete my commute. However, I discovered if I kept my speed down to 55 mph and held off on turning on the A/C for the first 15 minutes I had enough battery to make the commute and an extra shopping stop on the way home. I wish I had that ability on the Bolt.

The "Intellisense" headlight feature you mention is FANTASTIC on rural roads at night. The sensitivity is such that you never blind anyone coming toward you, or anyone in front of you moving in the same direction you are. If you are using the car exclusively in an urban area, you will never need the feature, but on a those two-lane lightly traveled roads out in the sticks it a must have...who needs a deer coming through the windshield?
@kenwittlief255
@kenwittlief255 7 ай бұрын
its great...but... it does not turn off the high beams until it sees headlights coming towards you a good driver will see the headlights of an approaching car lighting up the trees and in the misty air before the car comes into view around a curve or over a blind hill, and drop their high beams before the two drivers can actually see each others headlights its a nice feature, but its not quite "there" yet
@larrymach
@larrymach 20 күн бұрын
I live in the Adirondacks and I've found that this feature really doesn't work on curvy roads and hills. It depends an the sensor detecting the approaching car at some distance, which is negated if it is around a curve or on the other side of a hill. I rarely turn it on.

The window down feature is probably intended to equalize the car temperature with the outside temperature before you get in. The inside of a car is almost always hotter than the outside temperature due to the greenhouse effect your car has. On hot days, if you equalize the temperature first, your A/C doesn't have to work as hard, and it is also faster.

2 things on my EUV wishlist. I have had many GM vehicles of the last 15 years, and I wish they put the outside air temp on the drivers info centre (I even suggested this to a regional rep at a major car show). Putting it on the infotainment screen it gets hidden when you use Android or Apple. In Canada we need to see when the roads are starting to ice up (in July 😒). As well, wish the FOB or phone APP at least allowed closing the sun roof. Nothing worse than waking up thunder at 4am then starting to think "did I close the sunroof" when at a hotel.
@yili9725

that's right. when i use android auto navigation, the radio screen doesn't show outside temp. outside temp info is helpful especially for ev, because driver can adjust climate setting to save electricity for a bit longer range.

Good point! I use the outside temp gauge on mountain road trips in the winter. When gaining and loosing a lot of elevation and various mountainous micro climates the temps can fluctuate 10-15 degrees above/below freezing. I like to keep my eye on the temp in those situations as an extra data point especially when the roads are wet / potentially icy and I'm causing along at speed.

This may be a Bolt thing or just a Chevy thing. Driving my Bolt home for the first time the tire pressure sensor thing went off, all four tires were under inflated the same amount at the same time. In the morning the pressure was the same, so I put air in them. The feature is that when you are putting air in the tires, the turn signal will flash to let you know it's not done when you stop (this might even be a PSI blink code, IDK), and will beep the horn when the proper PSI is reached. I had to do all four tires, and when all the tires are at proper PSI the car gives a quick beep-beep-beep to let you know everything is proper.

Your tires require frequent topping off, as rubber is somewhat porous and the air inside expands and contracts with changing weather conditions. That is why they were all at a consistently lower PSI.

In my 2019 Bolt Premier , I have discovered that instead of waiting 5 seconds for my screen to boot up so I can turn on the A/C, I can just adjust the temperature down and the A/C will start up right away. The auto window down feature was the one thing I hated the most on my 2012 Volt. It never failed to auto down the windows at the worst time, usually during a thunderstorm while I was taking a nap on the couch with my keys in my pocket. I have found the windows down and the inside of the Volt wet at least a half dozen times. There is no way to disable this "Feature" without having the dealership reprogram the Volt. I was very happy to find it was NOT included on my new Bolt.

Newer models don't have a Forward model. I had to reboot my 2023 EUV - it is done by fully powering up the car (if not already in that state), turn off the car, and then open the door for 2 minutes. When you close the door and start the car, it goes through the actual boot-up sequence which takes about 40 to 60 seconds before everything is fully online.

Great info...have owned a 2017 Volt...then a 2020 Bolt and now a 2023 Bolt EUV...have to say the Home Button was the best addition...we use it to quickly get out of Android Auto to use the cameras...and NOW, knowing it's just a long press to get back into Android Auto is the best! Also I had turned on the rear wiper in reverse feature but will be honest...didn't quite know what it did). Keep up the good work!

Another question on my 2023 EUV premier, is there a volume/sound to the safety warning for a car coming too close to either side? (Whether or not I have my blinker on) and for the front distance between cars? Or if the only warning the flashing on my dash for front distance or side mirrors for side lane distance? There is a red flashing triangle and beeping sound when a pedestrian is walking too close.

Hey man, your videos are extremely helpful. We just put an order in for an EUV Premiere with an expected ship date of mid October. We still have a small window the modify our configuration and I am going back and forth on the sun and sound package. The sunroof looks nice and big but is there any big improvement with the Bose Sound System compared to the default system? I am leaning towards skipping the package as long as the original sound system is not trash but if the default sound is bad to begin with, then it might be worth the upgrade. Thanks for the videos dude!

Just drove a 2022 Bolt EUV yesterday, bad move on my part. It was awesome to drive. Novato Chevy is bringing in the color and model trim this week for me to… test drive and fall I 💜💜💜 with. Just so hard to go from a semi luxurious Ford Explorer Sport, slightly modified, to… well…. a Bolt. I’m vain, hate me or not at least I admit it. Thank you for your videos, I do enjoy them. I binged yesterday all afternoon and night. Still torn though on on spend $3k max to fix my 2014 Explorer Sport or trade her in for a 2022 (not a 2023 cause I like new new) Bolt EUV premier in ice blue (say that in a whispery sultry voice then giggle cause you’re acting like a kid now). I did not want to spend $60K on an EV, so I jumped on the Bolt EV 2LT at HALF THE PRICE of the Tesla. Totally happy with that. GM installs the 240v outlet in your garage for FREE on top of that deal.
