These bikes have interested me because of the way they look. If you were as old as I am, you would have experienced your formative bicycle years on a Schwinn Sting Ray! They were the closest thing to a motorcycle I could have. I peddled that thing all over creation, so I don’t see a problem with the seat setup. It’s just not what you are used to. The Brushed Silver looks awesome, but I’d want the Camp Scrambler model instead. I’m an off reader because of my old Sting Ray! Love your reviews!

I have the exact same bike and it goes 27 on a slight uphill and 32 in the other direction I’d have to say 28 is realistic. I was also annoyed by the upside down shifter but got used to it in about 20 minutes. Something I learned from a Juiced video on there website is from a standstill use the throttle with the peddle assist and it pushes it up to 1000 watts for a short time for very good exceleration.

Thanx for the review, very informative. I own the Ripcurrent S in silver and I am starting to notice the motor slow down and increase, like you said it feels like someone is pressing the brakes lightly and then the power comes back. I use it for exercising since im retired. I didn't use the bike for more than 1000 miles for the first 2years because of suregeries. This year alone I have close 6000 miles on it and I have always ridden it in Eco mode to get the workout while pedaling. Last week I noticed that eco mode is almost like being in 0 mode where the motor cuts out, so 1 is now like Eco mode or feel and I do get the occasional slow down and then picks up. The bike has been good to me in performing wise.. I have replaced the Free Hub (at 800miles) and as of yesterday it looks like the Free hub needs to be replaced again(at 4900 miles). The brakes are not tektro and have no bleed port at the Levers, so I re4placed the rear after it developed a leak, got the rakes from TektroUSA. I also replaced a rear Brake motor cut off sensor. The worst part is the Chains, I'm constantly changing chains, and noticed yesterday that the cassette has a warped 8th Gear sprocket. The battery is a 52v/19.2Ah..fully charged I get around 68miles in Eco mode pedal assist here in Florida on a trail (Elkton to Palatka) that I do everyday with about 4-8mph wind. I recently wired in another battery (52v/175ah) for longer distance. Customer service rating from me would be a 80% rating so far. I am looking forward for your next video on the modifications of the bike and its controller, I would like to run both of my batteries at the same time (they are wired up in Parallel) but I was told by Juiced tech support the control in my bike will not accept 2 batteries and it might burn out. Thanx for your time for making this video...Stay Safe.

I have the radrunner and one of these with the 19ah battery. Got the radrunner first and at first wasn't too impressed with the scrambler in comparison since I paid close to 50% more and since, though it's faster, it's just not as flexible a platform as the runner. Runner can be a banana seat or a utility bike (once you switch out the uncomfortable hybrid seat), works great for delivering with the bag rack and bag, all for 12 hundred. But then I got a delivery backpack and started working with the scrambler and, yep, that 52v with the 19ah sure grows on you going up the hilly neighborhoods in my city. Zippy AF. Trying to decide whether to sell one, which is tough cuz they're both a lot of fun and useful.

I agree with you, I really don't like how they do the pricing. However, I do like all the thought that goes into their bikes. It was fun to watch them test their packaging by throwing their boxed ebikes on the ground multiple times (Juiced YT channel) There are some other ebikes with hydraulic disc brakes standard at lower price points: Ride1Up 700 Series ($1500) and LMT'D ($1800). Makes a big difference.

I have a Juiced Bikes Ripcurrent S, in fact I have the 5th one ever made, and after some intital (exasperating) issues that needed straightening out from shipping damage to minor factory assembly defects, I couldn't be happier with this bike. It is truly an amazing machine- not to take away from anything from Kyle's offerings in this competitive arena of fast-as-hell fat ebikes. I was initially worried about the ECU being too small amp-wise and connectors that seemed undersized, but all have been put to the test several times with no problems whatsoever. Once all was straightened out, I started modifying the RCS to my needs, from a suspension seatpost, adjustable longer bar stem and a Whipperman Connex ebike drive chain, and now I've recently installed a Magura front hydraulic 4-piston ebike brake and rotor. The list goes on and the bike keeps getting better and better. The 52v optional bike charger they offer is the Grin Satiatior which is undoubtedly one of the best programmable chargers on the market, but it is not for the tech unsavy. To summerize Juiced Bikes, IMO, I would say that, unlike Rad Power Bikes and the plethora of others on the market, Juiced is an "open palette". While it's one downfall is you cannot update the ECU over computer lines, It's LCD has more information than you could ask for. From watt and amp hours, ECU temperature and factual dual battery displays, the bike is for the rider that wants to be integral with their bike. It's a great riding experience for those who want to have a clear understanding where their bike stands electrically at any moment. Even the features are awesome, from Cruise Control, Walk Mode and TAB (Throttle Assist Boost) function to being able to lock out certain features. There are 6 (actually 5) assist levels as the 1st one is 0- no assist at all, (but the throttle is active). ECO is next which simply makes the weight of the bike void. 1-3 gives progressively more assist where 3 is more assist than you'll prolly need. Then there is S for Sport which is stupid fast, THEN there is R for Race. This is way, way, way over the top. The air spring fork sorta sucks, but it works well enough. Juiced calls this bike an "SUB" (Sport Utility Bike) which is well suited. It's great on pavement and loose gravel but it is not a downhill bike of any kind. It is the type of bike you work on, not pay to have someone else work on, so a good bike stand is highly suggested.

I have the same Shimano shifter on my ebike conversion. I had to do the same thing and reverse the shifter because of the twist throttle. Putting the throttle on the left felt too unnatural and even though the shifter is upside down, I can still see the numbers. I recently purchased a juiced bike crosscurrent s2 which has the same motor and battery but is a commuter bike where you can definitely pedal and you should. It's been an excellent bike for me. The fastest I've gone on the flats is 34 mph. It's true the bike struggled to go the throttle limit at 20 mph uphill if you don't pedal but I always pedal so I don't care. I never use the throttle only. Also I've had excellent luck with their customer support.
@bakotako4 жыл бұрын
It was mentioned in a few replies to comments, but yes unfortunately the shifters are upside down BUT THEY ARE ON THE CORRECT SIDE. This upside down shifter is a product of the fact that it was designed for actually manual bicycles not ebikes with all their classes. A thumb throttle will destroy your thumbs over a long commute, but half twist is ideal. It was already surveyed in Micah's channel that half twist is the preferred throttle. That being said, you cannot put both the half throttle and a traditional twist shifter on the same side. From a motorcycling perspective, I always move my shifter upside down to the left side. This makes shifting and managing the power more fluid and wont clutter up the right handle bar. Also, you get use to it being on the left. Even with the trigger shifter I would want it on the left side for aforementioned. This is especially true for mid drive bikes.

Not having ever had an EBike, but totally in the market for one, please explain to me the use of the regular bicycle gears and the power mode of the electric motor. If you want high speeds (and set the power to "Race") do you need to manually change the bike gears, or does the motor change the gears for you? I do need an e-bikee as I'm too old/sick/fat to just ride a regular bike so an e-bike seems to be what I need knowing I can peddle, but have assistance when encountering hills (or when I'm too tired to get all the way home).
@xiuxiu11084 жыл бұрын
I believe it's just for the sake of legality: "This thing can run on pedals, they're not comfortable to pedal in, but it CAN run on pedals; therefore, it's an electric BICYCLE, not an electric moped." You do need to manually shift gears but gearing doesn't affect speed when you're in full electric mode since the motor IS inside the hub of the rear wheel and not a separate unit that drives the chain in the drivetrain (as you know, the wheel can spin at a higher rate/independent of the movement of the gears in any conventional bike). It's akin to somebody spinning your rear wheel for you rather than somebody spinning the chain to drive the wheel (like in motorcycles and mid-hub e-bikes).
@jannezack4 жыл бұрын
Xiu Xiu so if you are in full electric mode and going 20mph+, but do not change the gears of the bicycle, then if you turn the peddles, they will just spin (like when you coast down a hill on a regular bike), correct?
@xiuxiu11084 жыл бұрын
@@jannezack Yes, correct.

I'm waiting for my Hyper Scorpion to ship late next month and it has an electrical cutoff to the controller when the brake lever is pulled. If the switch is set too close road vibrations or wheel (out of balance) could cause the controller to think you've applied bake.?? Just a thought..

They have the 2.0 version now and it has a lot of good things on it for the money. I would LOVE to see you review one !!!! They look very solid and have a 2 year warranty on them and lifetime on the frame. They are 48V, 17.5ah, 750 watt motor, just manual disk, BUT I THINK BETTER..hydrologic disks can be dangerous if not properly maintained. And they claim up to 60 miles on petal assist level 1. Petal assist is 1-5 and you can get into the computer of the controls to up the top speed to like 32MPH? Idk. They look really nice. And you get a real human that can answer questions every time you call. Ok thanks for listening, and i LOVE YOUR REVIEWS!!!!!

Just wanted to say after spending $2k on a very powerful Ariel Rider Kepler (step-thru - Not!), I ended up selling it because it was just too big. It has everything you dream about: 1k motor, 52v battery, etc. It was so strong - could race up any long steep hill - amazing bike for the money, BUT, you have to be 5'6-1/2" minimum to ride the bike (I'm 5'3"). So I then bought a RAD Rover 6 Plus. I feel much safer, easy to get on/off, can escape in a fall, etc. BUT, it's a dog. I test rode it for 2 hours on hills yesterday, doing every combination of assist 2-3, gear 2-3, then throttle....by the time the throttle kicks in, the bike would have fallen over, so you have to brake, stop..... I then tried throttle only, and again, makes it 1/3 way up a fairly steep hill, then dogs out. I was hoping to commute to work, but I have to get over a large hill (White Hill in Fairfax, CA). This won't do it :-( So now I am extremely bummed. Not sure what to do. Order the NEW Juiced RipCurrent S Step-Through bike??? or try and upgrade this somehow. Controller seems to be hidden inside the frame, as is part of the gutless battery.

But not for any aggressive riding. Too heavy and even with the front suspension fork, the back end hits too hard. But I do like the bike enough to spend money on modifying, so I will be curious to see your next video on this bike. And maybe you will come up with some more ideas for this bike. And hopefully it will be something that Bolton will be selling. Nothing worse than seeing a cool new mod but the parts being hard to source. Here is one idea, I would love to upgrade these stock Tecktro brakes to your Juintech anodized brake kit but with the correct brake sensor adaptors. Thanks again for the review!!!!

I almost bought one of these just because it was brushed aluminum. I've got an old Specialized with a polished aluminum frame and would honestly do the labor to make this bike match the old girl.

I saw a review of the hyper scrambler where someone had received a frame that was rusting, so I'm not sure if "brushed aluminum" is a statement to the materials used or if it's just the paint style/color. Would have to check the website to be sure the frame is actually aluminum

I really like your review of the Juiced City Scrambler, I agree on the seat configuration for that style bike, but all in all, it doesn't seem to be such a terrible ebike. Like you, I am not a big fan of an upside down shifter, they should have put a thumb throttle on it and put the shifter, rightside up on the right. But that's my opinion. Thanks again, great review video. 🖖😎

On a production e-bike you're absolutely right about the upside down shifter. That said, I have that shifter on 1 of my DIY e-bikes and might do that to put a throttle on the right side (it's set up as class 1 now). How's that Velo project (with solar panels to recharge)? I joked about a perpetual motion machine but am enthusiastic about the project.
