Thank you, I've got the whole cycle route from Crawleyside to Stanley to post sometime soon, I think it's about 12 miles in total.

@@assessorjohn great, last weekend i cycled up past salters gate to waskerley way, then down to rookhope on the track in this video, then up and over to stanhope then back along past wolsingham...was great...komoot (website for creating routes) suggests there's a few trails that bypass rookhope, and think I've spotted one at the 4:45 section on this video which is a great help :)

Great video this. I'm a drone flyer myself of 5 years, and took a video at Bolt's Law peak / trig point at the weekend. Not the video I hoped for due to me not having a sun shield so I sometimes can't see the screen on my phone (or tablet) and not see where I'm heading............ clear enough. Depends on the light. I recognise almost everywhere your flight goes just from driving around the area quite a lot as I only live around 30 minutes away. Could do with some tips from you (adding music, joining clips.....). Anyway.... I digress. Excellent video. Really enjoyed watching it.👍

Interesting flight John and as always leaves me with a bunch of questions to ask, so please forgive my inquisitive mind lol. The old quarry you flew over a couple of times, what did they dig for, guessing some type of stone perhaps? Bolts Law incline? was this some sort of rail line? What was it used for? questions questions lol. Well to be honest I found your video so captivating as I always do and tend to watch it about 3 or 4 times. Saw some random person near the old abandoned Engine House so now I am guessing this was some sort of pulley system ? Towards the end I thought you were going to reveal yourself for the world to see lol. Glad you found your way back. Very good video John of which I absolutely loved being on board this flight. Thank you.

Hi Kim thank you and don't worry it's great that you're interested. Wright's groove was quarried for ironstone. You seem to have worked out the purpose of the engine house and incline, The pulley system was used to haul ironstone, limestone and lead up the hill from various workings below. There's a very nice description and picture here: www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4211175 which shows how little there is left of it to see in my video now. The whole rail system and incline is now a popular path and cycle route.
