This Friday, the Golden State Warriors made an official announcement regarding a key addition to their leadership team. Jon Phelps has been named the new Senior Director of Basketball Strategy and Team Advisor. Phelps arrives with an impressive amount of experience, having spent the last 10 seasons working for the Detroit Pistons. There, he served as Senior Director of Basketball Strategy since 2022 and as a Strategy Analyst for two years before that. His basketball career began in the G-League, where he served as Director of Basketball Operations and later General Manager of the Grand Rapids Drive.
In addition to his NBA and G-League experience, Phelps also has an outstanding academic resume. He graduated from Tulane University School of Law, majoring in Sports Law, and graduated from Siena College with a degree in English, where he also served as manager of the men's basketball team. Now, Phelps will take all of that knowledge and experience to the Golden State Warriors, where he plays a crucial role in the organization.
