It was honestly amazing to watch someone experiencing the wonder of Holocene for the first time, let alone this entire album. I would listen to Holocene and cry in early high school. It is nostalgia and reminiscence encapsulated in a song, magically and magnificently. But I think Michicant is perhaps my favorite song if I had to pick from this album. The part that you questioned what was happening, the noise reminds me of cracking ice, shifting in a lake, or perhaps a shovel scraping snow across concrete, a noise that casts me into a slowly thawing Michigan winter. If I had an album I would love to share, I would have to choose Ben Howard’s I Forgot Where We Were.

“Love can hardly leave the room with your heart” is such a powerful line. I probably heard that song a dozen times before I ever stopped and really thought about it. The lyrics from that one and Calgary are top tier-who am I kidding, they’re all top tier!

Yessss more bon iver, you should check out fleet foxes albums as well my favorite band ever.. Fleet Foxes 2008 Sun Giant E.P. 2008 Helplessness Blues 2011 Crack - Up 2017 Shore 2020 😊😊😊😊😊

Def seconding Fleet Foxes. While Shore may be my fav of the bunch, I think jumping in with that could wreck her. Their S/T or HB would probably be more fitting entry points

I love watching people experience Bon Iver for the first time... because it is an experience. I just watch their faces absorb the sound because I know they're not going to be able to lose it. It will be a part of them forever... in a good way. If you haven't already... I always recommend "Blood Bank" to a first time Bon Iver fan.

I used to listen to this album and fleet foxes all the time at the lake house when B was little. Bon Iver is perfect for cold rainy days. Somehow they are the one band I’ve tried to see live several times (also when Justin Vernon had volcano choir and again with gayngs) but never worked out for one reason or the other

Okay, this is very niche, but I’ve found this artist recently called Kindred Echo, and they have an album that dropped this year called “sleepyheads”. It’s a little rough around the edges in some places (and oddly, not on their actual channel in full 🧐), but it is a JOURNEY, and you should check it out.
