Phenomenal record one of the rawest albums ever. The fact he retreated to a cabin in the woods after a break up with his band and girlfriend only to emerged with this masterpiece makes it that much better. you can feel the loneliness, cold atmosphere, the longing.

Speaking of the musicality of his voice, lyrically he is the type to go for the sound or feel of a word over the actual meaning. That’s why he literally will make up words from time to time in his lyrics

Just FYI, the last 30 seconds of Re: Stacks is not just blank noise. You can hear Justin set his guitar down, get up from his chair, walk across the floor of his cabin, and plus his answering machine back in. It symbolizes him ending his self-imposed isolation after heartbreak and reconnecting with the outside world.

So interesting! I had heard about that and I am going to New Mexico this summer to go to Philmont to take the most advanced leadership training the boy scouts have to offer. I will have my phone fully off and am not turning it back on until after I summit the mountain I'm climbing

ótima reação, você me trouxe uma nova perspectiva sobre o álbum, o que me fez gostar ainda mais dele, além de notar pequenos detalhes que não havia percebido antes. sempre reservo um tempo pelo menos 1 vez no mês para ouvir esse álbum, ele foi muito importante pra mim na pandemia, e gosto de me lembrar do quanto ele é real e valioso.

Justin Vernon is a beast, a genius. The story behind this album is amazing. Long story short, he was isolated in a cabin for 3 months, after a breakup and dealing with a disease. He did these songs during this period, that's why it's so raw and more folky than his sophomore album. Imo, 22, a million is one of my favorite albums of all times. All of his projects are amazing. Listen to The Shouting Matches, Big Red Machine, Volcano Choir, Deyarmond Edison and his solo projects and collaborations with other artists (from Kanye West to Taylor Swift). This is the first album where he really experimented with singing in a falsetto. His bands before this he used primarily full voice

Their 3rd album, "22, a Million" is easily my favorite album of all time, maybe even my favorite piece of art. It's a LOT more experimental than For Emma or Self Titled, but its an experience that transports you to another world.

Stacks and Flume as well as the wolves absolutely revolutionized my perspective on being alone and existing with the moment and taking in how things due to what has happened are and what could happen next. Scary but eye opening

The first time I had ever heard Bon Iver, it was The Wolves at the end of the film The Place Beyond The Pines after it came out on DVD, that song just really hit me on a really deep level, and I fast-forwarded through the credits so I could listen to more of this band I'd never heard of. That was years ago but Bon Iver has been my favorite band and Justin Vernon one of my favorite Artists. I'll admit that I didn't love his latest album as I only enjoyed like 2 or 3 songs on the album, but I absolutely adore the song Naeem, it's in my Top 5 favorite songs of his, lol.
