I have to admit, knowing that Jon seriously injured his voice in the 1990s, and seeing some very disappointing performances from the more current band on the older stuff, I was expecting far worse than this when I found this video. John doesn't have the grit or range he used to, but he found a way to make it work. And Richie sounded great as usual. definitely surpassed my expectations.

It's pretty hard to find a bad performance on this tour. Jon was on fire during it. He actually used the widest range of singing techniques of his entire career during, making up for his lack on vocal range. But age, continued smoking and psychological problems have sadly taken their toll on him since then and no range of techniques really seems to be able to save him nowadays anymore.

I agree. His voice now is totally shot. I know he really messed his voice up good on the New Jersey tour and had to learn a lot of techniques to overcome the damage the demands of that tour put on him.

Legends of Rock Bon Jovi are Jon, Richie, David, Tico, and Alec (also considering Hugh) not Jonny and Phil X playing together for 3 years. I'm a big fan of this band, and as a true fan, I appreciate what Richie has offered for Bon Jovi, which is its signature sound: solos, riffs, great vocals, lyrics, etc. But sadly that has been going downhill since 2000, because they became a pop-rock band, and the vast majority of their songs during this period sounds the same, not to mention Richie's decline. The band with Phil X is producing the same kind of music as Richie did since 2000, with some very specific exceptions. There's been some mediocre stuff with Richie, but you can't replace all those great moments that easily. He's an awesome musician, I like to see him play, but Phil will never be as great as Richie was in the history of the band.
