Without a doubt! they made excellent cast choices all around, but they struck gold with Dan Blocker, they lasted 7 more seasons after Pernell Roberts left, but they wouldn't have lasted another season if Dan Blocker had left

Great episode! One blooper though. While talking to Hoss, Doc Munday mentions Jack the Ripper. Other episides eluded to the show's time frame of being in the late 1850s and early 60s. Jack the Ripper didn't commit his crimes until 1888.

Hoss no Ouch no Flinch no Scrunched Up facial expression a day or two after surgery? I don't think Klaatu was a Martian. I think you're mixing that up with H.G.Wells War Of The Worlds. From The Day The Earth Stood Still, I believe Klaatu expalins to the President's secretary, Mr. Harley, that he is from a planet unknown to us. By the way, I think that Michael Rennie would have made a great Vulcan. As a matter of fact Leonard Nimoy once said that one influence for his performance as Mr. Spock was that he took from Michael's Klaatu.

I understand they originally considered Spencer Tracy as the alien Klaatu, but smartly went with an unknown, at the time, Michael Rennie. He was so convincing as an alien from another world.

Ah ha! you noticed something? good my friend....she was just the cover for the real love story, they had to put a woman in that story some way, or else it would've been obvious it was a gay affair, a few of their episodes had homosexual tendencies in the story, their was one with Pernell Roberts and Robert Culp that seemed unnatural bonding, the concept of Cartwright family always made me suspect of David Dortort's real agenda
