Pretty diddly dang sure that those "pellets" are something called cattle cubes. They're a mix of grain/hay/alfalfa/molasses that's extruded like that. All alfalfa pellets that I've ever seen are very irish green and come in different sizes like cubes or smaller pellets.

A lot of people on here are commenting on Brad as a person, and the editing, but can we stop and recognize the potential of this video? Yes, this series and the other well-executed BA videos are a blast to watch, but this video has so much pertinent information to our existence, and more importantly, is helping to make mainstream again the deep connection we have with our food and it's impact on the world that we live in. I've seen people say "this doesn't have as much of the quirky editing!", but I am glad that this truly is an educational and fun video. Thank you Brad, Hunzi, and the BA team for this!

Right? I love that they’re talking about this. People don’t realize what a crisis we’re in because they don’t see where their food is coming from they just get it at the store like they always do and don’t see the farmers and the land hurting. Awareness of this issue is necessary if we want to do something about it.

If you did take agriculture like I am, you would realize that a lot of what is said in this video is misinformed especially when he states that grains aren't good for these animals which is a blatant lie. The fact that we need to be conscientious of our land sustainability is true tho but ignoring soil health is really a thing of the past as just about all farmers are aware of this and acting accordingly.

Here's how to combat widespread ignorance of these issues in the industry..." types of lessons. To say that US industrial farming as a whole no longer ignores soil health is disingenuous.

I love this so much. It’s very important to note that there was NO ISSUE with soil, bison, or regenerative land management before the colonization of North America. The indigenous people of the area were and are incredibly diligent about regenerative land management.

wow so you're telling me that hunter gatherers without written language had an understanding of these concepts? doesn't that imply that they could have been industrial farmers but chose not to? 🙄
@Zoek812
@Zoek812 4 жыл бұрын
jonah the bear the whole point is that industrial farming ruined the land and they’re trying to fix it. Native Americans had (and still have) well documented regenerative land management practices that have been understood by historians, anthropologists, and ecologists for decades. If you care to educate yourself, I suggest reading the book 1491 by Charles Mann, or simply googling Native American or indigenous land management for a wealth of documented resources.
@rozchambers
@rozchambers 4 жыл бұрын
jonah the bear people with “written language” were too ignorant to know that killing nearly all the beaver for silly hats (ruining the natural, essential streams, dams, and woodland ecosystems) and killing off nearly all the buffalo and leaving most of the carcass to rot out unused was selfish and detrimental to their environment. Maybe take a class on the sophistication of indigenous society’s systems. There are many.

I was selfish and was just excited to see Brad back again. It lived up to what I expect from Brad and the team but I also was amazed at how standard farming practices that we accepted as best process were actually detrimental, beyond just the chemical fertilizer side of this. I was entertained and educated. Great job! While I am sad to see the fermentation videos go by the wayside (they got me into making my own hot sauce and sauerkraut) I am excited to see where this series goes. Kudos to Brad and everyone involved in this new project. I wish you all the best and great success!

No. This type of farming is unsustainable/extremely inefficient, a health hazard to expose produce to untreated animal feces and the video as a whole was VERY misinforming in terms of farming. Conventional farmers DO have dark chocolate top soil, they have powerfull machines to do the work instead of 100 grazing pseudocows trampling everywhere in a proccess that takes milennia, aswell as more efficient methods of getting nutrients into the soil.
