@@TarossBlackburn the ingredients for a single video aren't gonna cost much more than $50, and it's not like they'll have to throw everything away. the time it takes to go to the store will cost much more in labour. they have a lot of test cooks working there that can use up probably any ingredient, especially if it's not super uncommon like all the stuff you see in this recipe.

Probably one of the first times he’s done that tho tbh. This show exists because he’s “super taster” and he’s often extremely wrong. Maangchi was on and she threw a lil shade at him about it.

It's always funny to me when he mentions something in his tasting (thyme here) and then never uses it in any of his attempts. I always think "Chris you tasted it! You know it's there why aren't you using it!"

Having watched most of these Reverse Engineering episodes, it always surprises me when Chris can nail a recipe that seems so much more complicated or, at least, has a lot of ingredients that I'm not imaginative enough to put together

These have to be my favorite videos on this channel, yes even slightly above Brad's goofy It's Alive videos. Chris knows his stuff. He's really thoughtful how he puts a dish together and obviously really cares not just about getting it right, but making it really well. That's why I like him best. I really wanna see him crack that "A" one of these days!

Very well done. Hard to make up the last 15% since its probably nearly impossible to deduct the kind of apple and even that there are two different kinds. You would need to tast them all to just guess that there are two different types.

I'm still holding a grudge against Bobby Flay because on the very first episode of Iron Chef America, the guest chef was Hiroyuki Sakai, the winner of Iron Chef Japan, and Bobby Flay "won" with some kind of Tex-Mex nonsense, against Sakai's complex and very skillfully prepared dishes. That was a fake win, I don't care what the show said. Eternal grudge.
