Regarding prices - This isn’t really a “corner deli”. I live in Brooklyn and Frankels is very tasty. They use natural ingredients and cure their own meats in-house. For me it’s a “weekend” place to go. Russ and Daughters, another famous Jewish appetizing shop is also expensive. I also have a a corner deli at my Yemeni-owned bodega and I can get a beggeneggencheese on a roll for $3. It’s tasty, but it’s not the best quality bacon/bread in the world. I can get it 24/7 and it’s cheap. I will happily eat both.

Does it blow anyone else’s mind how much NYC Deli food is? Here in Colorado $19 gets you a full dinner entree, not just a sandwich. 😮 I knew that it was expensive there but this really puts it into perspective.

Yes, based on another video I was watching on the best NYC pastrami sandwich it's clear that most have settled on a price around $20 for their sandwiches. At those prices I don't see how people can afford to eat out, especially given that the rent is also unbelievably high.

Just for the record, this is not "an old school" Brooklyn Deli. It's only been there for about 3 years. Before that it was great Polish Restaurant with the best Perogies. If you want to go all the way back ...it used to be a night club. A friend of mine was shot & killed there in the 80's.
