My backpack vacuum keeps shocking with with static electricity. Any ideas on how to prevent this?
@BonaProfessional8 ай бұрын
Hi @rowankeltizar5961 - Is the grounding plug still intact on your BackVac? There can be a large amount of static generated when vacuuming up wood dust (think rain drops bouncing around in a thunderhead). Will definitely help if your grounding plug is still there; given that the receptacle that you're plugged into must be properly grounded as well. Otherwise, you become the ground and will tend to get zapped (think running across carpet with your socks on and touching the light switch - at least in a dry area like Denver, CO, that can also give you quite the zap). Hope that helps!

Love the floor in the beginning, what is the stain used?
@BonaProfessional3 жыл бұрын
Hi LW - The stain is Bona DriFast Stain - Nutmeg; and the floor was water-popped (and let dry overnight) prior to the stain being applied. That treatment lets the wood surface absorb more of the stain into the hard grain areas which makes the whole floor look darker, with less contrast between the hard/soft grain patterns. Hope that answers your question, and then some!

Is the process any different if you're starting with raw unfinished wood?
@BonaProfessional4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sara - The only difference if starting on raw/unfinished may be the starting grit and overall grit sequence needed to sand it smooth - just depends on the species hardness and how flat the floor is when installed. I've seem some new installations needing 16 grit because of the poor milling and large amount of over/underwood; and some needing only a 80 grit screen/sanding because of the excellent milling and overall smoothness to the newly installed surface. Hope that helps.

I have done several jobs in Miami on Star Island, Sunny Isles, Coral Gables, ETC.. you are forgetting the main and final step to your sanding process is using an orbital sander wearing booties on your shoes so that will allow the stain or the poly to absorb correctly. If you do not use an orbital you will leave marks in the floor and if you do not wear booties on your shoes the rubber score Mark will stop stain or poly from penetrating the wood. I still use Bona products to clean up afterwards but nothing else.
