Your hair is gorgeous, congrats on your progress. I also dealt with anemia related hair loss thank you for sharing your success and setbacks. I was natural for 12 years and recently went back to a relaxer because I was tired of the work with natural hair, nothing against team natural just needed things to be a bit easier as I get older. Loving your channel!!!

Aww, I noticed the quick tribute you did to Chadwick Boseman (RIP) in the middle of your video. That was really sweet. Also, your kitchen looks so nice and clean! Anyway, it was nice to see exactly how you personally use Olaplex #3. For me, I didn't notice any positive or negative changes using it. I find that hydrolyzed keratin in my shampoo/conditioner has been all I need so far!

Yeah, Chadwick seemed like a sweetheart... and was a huge talent. Will definitely miss seeing him on the big screen. Since I had a few questions regarding it, I figured I’d show how I use it. Have been using it less now that my hair is bouncing back, though. It’s done its job. You may have told me already, but what kind of poo/con do you use?

@@DolceDawn I use the Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Smoothing Shampoo/Conditioner. Although it's an inexpensive drugstore product, for me, the amount of breakage I got after using it was at 0%. I barely had any shedding as well. Not to mention the amazing slip even after it was all rinsed out! Using a poo/con without hydrolyzed keratin is noticeably different for me.

Hey Dolce I love your videos. Did you know that the Olaplex brand now has another part to this No. 3 system. They also made this new product to go with the No. 3 it's called Olaplex No. O. You use this first and then you use the No. 3 right after. The No. 0 primes, repairs, strengthens and protects. I love the Olaplex products I always use them. Also do not buy Olaplex products on Amazon because the Olaplex company said they are not authorized to sell their products and that there are a lot of fake products out there. Only get there products from there website or Sephora. Just wanted to provide you and your audience this info.

If so, thoughts? And thank you for the info regarding buying it on Amazon. You DO have to be careful. I Love your videos!! Your hair is amazing. As a older lady trying to hold onto my strands i find your videos so informative and reassuring.I've been afraid to try olaplex but I have need for some light strength. Do skip the products that may have protein in them on olaplex day? I understand its not a protein but acts like a protein.
@DolceDawn
@DolceDawn 4 жыл бұрын
Hmm... I, on a whole, do not pay special attention to the proteins in my products. But I do know that it works well with my current lineup. With that being said, if interested, I would just try it with your current regimen and see how your hair fares. It’s not as demanding as a traditional protein treatment, therefore there’s no risk of “overload”. Also, it’s lighter and not as stressful to strands, but just as effective (IMO). I would just leave it on for the 10mins and see if there’s any improvement/difference in my hair then proceed from there. And if you try it, please let me know!!

I love Olaplex! I use No. 0 (0 is new), 3, 6 and 7. 6 us their Leave in and 7 is the oil. As you mentioned, 3 is supposed to be used on damp hair, so I use 0 to dampen my hair, so when it’s time for 3 my hair is already damp. Been using it every week for about 2 months now. The breakage and shedding reduced to maybe 75%! I recently relaxed (last week) and used 0 and 3 on Monday, did not rinse out. Relaxed on Wednesday. Then did my usual weekly Olaplex/Protein/moisturizer routine. My hair has never felt stronger. It’s so expensive though, but I feel it’s worth it. Great video!

Hey, CL! OK, let me get this straight: you left the Olaplex in for a couple of days? Wow! I’ve heard of overnight, but not over a few nights. And you had great results! That is awesome!! 🤗 How do you like their leave-in and how do you use their oil? Do tell, do tell!
@cltaylor8490
@cltaylor8490 4 жыл бұрын
Dolce Dawn I tend to make a project out of a process 🤦🏾‍♀️. Yes, for a couple of days because I didn’t feel like doing the relaxer until Wednesday. I used to be a product junkie. Earlier this year I cleaned out my stash and decided to only use products that my hair loves. The Olaplex line is now a staple. The leave in is great. Not heavy at all and smells great. I use the oil after the leave in and maybe 1 more time during the week. The oil is very light also. The oil can also be used as a heat protectant. My hair really is thriving just like your hair, as a matter of fact, my hair looks a lot like your hair in terms of length and thickness. The only thing is that I wish I was able to wrap my hair like you do, but my scalp starts to hurt in certain spots when I wrap it and then the hair comes out where the soreness is. 🤷🏾‍♀️

“I tend to make a project out of a process.” 😂 I hear you! Hmm... I feel the that old tingle inside as I used to be a product junkie, too! I may want to try the leave-in. It does sound tempting. With regard to wrapping your hair, what kind of scarf do you use? Do you use a stiff silk/satin one or a stretchy one? Or something else?
@cltaylor8490
@cltaylor8490 4 жыл бұрын
Dolce Dawn It’s been years since I wrapped my hair. I used to use a satin scarf. Someone told me to start alternating the direction of the wrap once a week, I did that and it still didn’t work. By the time I noticed what was happening, My right temple went bald (a dime sized area) and the entire nape area was non existent. I kept trying different suggestions but nothing worked. It’s been at least 10-15 years since I wrapped my hair.
@DolceDawn
@DolceDawn 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I used to try and wrap my hair in different directions, but found it didn’t make a difference - good or bad - so I quickly stopped. I know that the regular, stiff scarfs (the fashion ones you can wear around your neck, etc.) can be restrictive and may cause discomfort and/or damage due to friction. The stretchy, silk/satin wrapping scarves have more give. So sorry you had that experience...

Hi Dolce, I’m amazed at how fluffy and well kept your hair still looks on wash day. If I followed your routine, you don’t do anything or apply anything to your hair in between washes right? Just wrap it everyday? Do you experience dryness, knots and breakage when combing after wearing your hair down the whole day?
@DolceDawn
@DolceDawn 3 жыл бұрын
Hey, Gabriella! Thank you! I like to keep my hair routine basic and regimen simple. I wash/blowdry and style once a week, using a flat iron once on the day of washing and rely on nightly wrapping of my hair to not only maintain my style until next wash day, but also maintain my hair’s moisture throughout the week. The serum/heat spray I use when flat ironing leaves my hair smooth and soft from root to tip. Therefore, I do not experience any type of dryness, knots or excessive breakage during the day... let alone, week. I have a vid called My Relaxer Day Arsenal that talks about the products I use that you may find helpful. But in the meantime, hope this helps! ♥️

Hey, James! So glad you’re enjoying the vids - thank you! I say take your time to decide what is best for you. Don’t rush. Which fits your style more? Hey, Tracey! Olaplex No. 3 isn’t a protein treatment; it’s a bond builder that helps restore the hair. Also, it contains no protein (per the company) and is supposed to be used pre-shampoo. Whether your conditioner has protein in it or not does not matter as it will not affect its efficacy nor your hair. I’ve used both a leave-in and rinse out conditioner with protein with it and had no ill effects.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but... if relaxers modify/weaken the bond in their to reshape it... how is it that when one uses a bond building treatment like olaplex or some demi-permanent hair colors, it doesn't undo the relaxing? it makes me terrified of using them
@DolceDawn
@DolceDawn 2 жыл бұрын
Hey, pavlova! It’s not a stupid question at all. Think of it as chemical processing “aftercare” whose purpose is not to undo the process, but take care of the hair AFTER the process. Like when you get a burn on your skin, you would put a salve on it not to undo the burn but to take care and heal the skin afterwards so that it can be in the best shape possible after. In the case of coloring, relaxing and any chemical process that drastically changes the hair and possibly leave it weary and susceptible to damage, bond building treatments are that salve. Hope that makes sense…
@pavlova
@pavlova 2 жыл бұрын
@@DolceDawn I guess the thing that made me confused was how rebuilding the bond wouldn't undo the relaxing (which itself has modified the bond). Not sure if that's making sense.
@DolceDawn
@DolceDawn 2 жыл бұрын
@@pavlova I guess if you think of “rebuilding” as “restrengthening” instead, it may make more sense. Also, chemical processes like relaxing are permanent, so, in theory, you CAN’T undo or un-relax hair once it’s done. So bond treatments cannot and were never designed to reverse or undo permanent chemical processes like relaxing, but were designed specifically to strengthen and provide “aftercare” to stressed strands afterwards.

Hey, Kemi! Well, my hair wasn’t in a damaged state, per se, when I first used it. With the products I use, I could always get shine/luster. It was just falling out. But I do believe it made my hair more resilient as it grew in. And now that my hair has grown in, I don’t really notice a difference in the shine, bounce, etc. when using it, but that’s a good thing. That means that it’s doing its job without interfering with the products that already give me that “bada-BING, bada-BOOM”! lol 😉

@DolceDawn 2 жыл бұрын
Hey, lolo! Keratin treatments coat the hair, making it harder for anything to penetrate. Therefore, it would be best and more beneficial to use Olaplex BEFORE a Brazilian treatment as it will help reinforce/strengthen the strands, thus prep it for the process. If you’ve already gone through the process, just like a relaxer, you should probably wait at least 4 weeks after the treatment before using Olaplex No3. @@lovelite6737 - Yes, I feel the Olaplex regiment is doing me proud ☺️. I gave myself a perm retouch this past Saturday. I followed up with Olaplex #3, #4 & #5. This is the PERFECT TICKET for me 🎯‼️ I trimmed my ends yesterday. The real proof will show in the health of my ends in 3 months after all this good treatment 😊.

Can you use heat with the Olaplex?
@DolceDawn
@DolceDawn 4 жыл бұрын
Hey, jane! Heat is not required for No. 3 to do its handiwork; according to the instructions, all you have to do is apply. However, you can visit their website if you want more info (Olaplex.com). Was there a reason why you were looking to use this with heat or were you just asking out of curiosity?
