@marcificht40133 жыл бұрын
Yeah...made me realize that sometimes there are extenuating circumstances where dolphins can end up in captivity. And that love can make life in captivity worthwhile and fun rather than a sad torture. He would have passed away much earlier from the throat cancer in the wild. I have to stop assuming and try and remember that sometimes they are in captivity for a reason...such as being found in a near death condition on a sandbar. But I am still vehemently opposed to breeding them in captivity.
@RhonyLynn3 жыл бұрын
I think we need to use common sense when deciding to make ANY wild animal live in a zoo or aquarium. I am NOT against them for animals that can't live on their own in the wild for some reason. I DO have a problem with humans going into the wild or the oceans and taking perfectly healthy and well cared for animals into captivity. Bucky was an honest rescue, and his bond with his trainer was obviously genuine.

Y'know if I get to see dolphins dance after freaking cancer treatment then I wanna be a vet too.
@lushpaw14 жыл бұрын
The story of Bucky brought to mind another story.. one where my mother rescued a husky/aussie mix from euthanasia. At one year old she had been so abused and broken by her owners and their children that the vets at the animal hospital didn't think she would ever be compatible with humans again. My mother..having taken care of her mother for the last two years in her fight against cancer.. was driving randomly around while the ambulance drivers and other medical personnel took away my grandmother as she had lost the battle. My mother ended up on a dead end road that was an ASPCA and she went inside mostly to escape the florida heat.. This is where she met Pepper. Pepper was laying alone in the hallway in a tin tub of cool water since her owners had staked her out in the august heat with no water or shelter.. the vet had just decided that she should be put down due to her injuries and because she would not respond to anyone. My mother knelt down and said to her.. little girl.. you and I have had a tough year. The vet watched as Pepper finally responded to someone.. she wagged the tip of her tail. My mother asked if she could have her..the vet replied..If she survives. It was a little over a month of care before my mother could pick her up from the ASPCA so extensive was her injuries and malnourishment. She weighed just 27lbs. ( after she filled out she hovered in the 50lb range for the rest of her life) I have never seen such a bond between a dog and her human. A natural-born skeptic and somewhat cynical.. I honest to goodness believe that dog could read her mind. They were inseparable for the next 18 years. We were so blessed to be able to spend so much time with such an intelligent and compassionate creature.

These are the scenes of dolphins that PETA never show people. Bucky was clearly very happy living in captivity. He has his friends, new faces, excitement from the crowd, and all the treats he could ever want.

@@IvysPoison1987 yes obviously if he wasn’t a captive dolphin it would belong in the wild but this animal has been raised in captivity as a vulnerable pup and would have probably died from that cancer

@@emilyann104 2x as longs as the average life expectancy for a dolphin in captivity. So they did a good job in caring for him. Dolphins typically live longer in the wild than in captivity, but this case is an exception because he was a rescue that would have died without human intervention.

I hope that the breeder that Gypsy was purchased from was made aware of this defect because it came from!!
@cassandrahepp64455 жыл бұрын
The defect is pretty rare. I've seen one other similar case and I feel like this is probably very similar. There is a blood vessel that is essentially wrapped around the esophagus when in the womb (in the womb it doesnt matter because the animal won't be swallowing food). That vessel usually shrinks and pretty much disappears by the time of the birth. In very rare cases that doesn't happen and the vessel, even though it no longer supplies blood, doesn't shrink and it created that constriction of the esophagus. Since they didn't give a ton of details I can't swear to it but that's what it looks like from the surgery video.
@talierivera10504 жыл бұрын
It’s not genetic. It’s just how the body react to the vessel.

@@cassandrahepp6445 I always skip the surgeries so thanks for the intell. I'm fine in emergencies when someone's hurt, been there done that several times. But seeing something cut and then sew flesh, Nope! Big Big Nope. I couldn't even be in the classroom when in Biology we were supposed to disect a frog, had nightmares for weeks. My teacher didn't even bother to try and get me to do the other two dissection assignments, she gave me pass by letting me do a research paper instead. Of course having 13 year old gagging and going into shock was probably a strong factor. I had no idea I'd react that way, I absolutely loved horror films, I preferred thrillers but I watched Saw and Nightmare on Elm street, so who woulda thunk it. 🤷♀️ Even if its on TV, just can't watch the scalpel, pretend or otherwise.

@@animehuntress9018 Ikr- I can't stand anything with blood or cutting something live. One time I had a drop of blood on my thumb and my dad was to disinfect it, but I got so freaking scared I legit fainted- and that did NOT turn out well, since I fell on a hard stone floor hitting my head.

When my, my sister, and myself when to the shelter almost four weeks ago to pick up and adopt our Sheleter puppy Zander and when they brought him out to us and he ran to us it was like he knew that his real family came to get him. The saddest thing ever was when we realized that every time we tried to get him to come inside he wouldn't want to go in. My older sister who lives with us along with her two sons said that he might have been an outside dog for a very long time until animal control got a hold of him. Also when we tried to brush him he would flich aeay, another sign that he might have been abused. But the important thing is he has a new family who loves him just as much as he loves us.
