My 12.5 year-old Labrador's just like that with his own personality. I know his time's drawing closer, he is, a grumpy, stubborn old man dog now, refusing to get in or out of vehicles, really pushing his luck with his routines and sniffings and foodings, 24 hours a day mother, please! but despite the grey around his muzzle now, he's still quite sprightly and inquisative for his age. I hope he has at least 3 more years left in him, but when he does shuffle off the mortal coil over the rainbow bridge, he's had a very good innings, lived to a ripe old age, chased all the cats he fancied chasing, eaten all the bones he fancied smashing, dreamt all the dreams he is always having in his REM sleeps, as he sleeps with one eye open. He'll be celebrated all right. I don't want tears from anybody, not if death means he'll be at peace with the world, comfortable, should his physical condition deteriorate or he should develop cancers in various parts of his body which couldn't be treated. That's the circle of life.

Omg, this brings back so many memories!! My little English Cocker Spaniel girl was 10 when she had to have emergency surgery to remove her spleen. She had been to the vet 3 days prior, and nothing was wrong except she was a little pale. Then 3 days later she suddenly had a huuuge lump(it wasnt there when we saw the vet 3 days prior), she was barely moving, wouldnt eat or drink. She was a shadow of herself. Her gums were ghost white. I rushed her to the vet, and was told she might not make it. That was some of the worst few hours of my life, not knowing. She had emergency surgey, and they found that her spleen had a huuuuge tumor. I'm not even kidding when I say my little 11 kg dog had a spleen+tumor that was almost 2 kg in size!! She is 12 now, and thinks she still a puppy haha!!

Not all birds 😂 my galah cuddles me like a baby but he HATES basically the rest of the world. Doesn't mind my Dad but that's it. Has never liked another person he's met. He's ok and chatty with people but you wouldn't want to try touching him. With a few people he can't even tolerate them being in the same room, he screams and screams until they go. I take notice of that though. They don't come back to my house because I do NOT trust them if they upset him so much.

Any time you have to let go of any pet, it's very painful. They are a member of the family and just like a baby in that they will always need you to pay attention for their entire lives so that all their needs are met. They can't tell you what's wrong or that something hurts. It's like having a newborn infant for however long they are with you. And, because they are so helpless, you love and protect them more than you actually thought. Having to put them to sleep breaks your heart in a way that losing a human never will compare to.

You’re right that putting an ill pet to sleep and the feelings that follow is different than a humans death. May ‘17 My mom passed away. Dec. of ‘17 we had to put to sleep my sons 15yr old cat. May ‘18 Our 12-14yr old cat passed away from liver disease. June ‘18 One week after losing our cat we lost our 16.5yr old dog. June 2/21 My husband suddenly passed away. Out of all these deaths, it’s my husband’s that has my heart totally broken. No matter who dies a death is a death, but some you have deeper heartache over. I teared up when the doctor was talking to the owner with the sad news. Alex is such a compassionate vet.🥰 Dr. Scott, I was so happy he was able to adopt the bird but can understand his disappointment that his wife is so allergic to birds. What a gorgeous bird!!!!😍😍🥰🥰 Felt bad for the dog’s owner. We hate when our pets are sick. Wow, the size of the spleen was totally unbelievable!!😮 Love that the vet plays music because he feels so great that the operation was a success and if the owners are there, the music tells them the operation went great!!🥰

When I was a young teen, I got a puppy from one of my family members whose dog had had pups. He was a nightmare, but one day he just changed. Tired, sad, wouldn't eat or drink. My dad took him to the vet while I was at school. Like Tigger, he had an inoperable tumor. He hadn't even turned one yet, but he had a tumor in his stomach that completely blocked off the exit. He wasn't good, but he was my boy.

I wish I could adopt Squeek. Just precious in looks and personality. I hope whoever gives her a forever home showers her with love. I can't get over how much she trusts these strangers who took her in. Brought her baby out immediately to show off what she did. Then happy to have someone with her while she is nursing. That is some serious trust from a little girl who may not have much reason to trust humans. Also love how quickly they got mom and babies out of the shelter. Over here a lot of shelters won't let a mom and babies go to a foster or if they do allow it they don't put a rush priority to getting them out of the shelter ASAP.

A few human doctors could learn alot about empathy and communication from these amazing people. So sorry for Ann I know how hard it is to have your pet put down, tough for the vets too.... but what a pity doctors cant treat humans with the same dignity..one needle and its all over because nothing else could be done..thats how I would like to leave this world should I ever need to. I wish they wouldnt make the surgeries blury. I know it bothers most of the ppl seeing blood and all but it facinates me seeing everything. Would be great to have it as an option to blur or not with a click

If they dont blur it youtube takes it down. Has nothing to do with viewers not liking blood.

Tigger looks so much like my JJ. Lost him a few years ago. Going to have to skip that part.

I wonder if Dr Scott's had to get rid of his chickens due to poor Zoe's issue with birds.

I know Ann's Pain on March 4th 2023 I had to put my own dog down because of a ruptured brain aneurysm caused by a malignant or benign brain tumor getting to big and the aneurysm had nowhere to grow so it ruptured and the moment it ruptured all his organ's started to fail him so I took him to his own vet the next morning and had him euthanized and It broke my heart to have to let him go but it was what was best for him in the long run
