I have a cat who was diagnosed with a similar heart condition, diagnosed after he had a heart attack and was rushed into our local emergency vet. They met us in the parking lot with a crash cart. It was terrifying. He went into heart failure and had to stay in the pet hospitals ICU for several days. I remember every day waiting to get a call saying he had passed...then when they did call they said he had actually managed to recover enough to come home but the feline cardiologist gave him only three - six months to live. That was 2019. He's still alive today much to the continued surprise of the vets who give him his regular checkups.

They love a challenge! Long walks( I mean it) 2 miles should help. Oh, unless u want them in the water, keep them away from the water. They have webbed feet& a strong tail . I would have wondered why not put a powerful but small magnet on a probe into the dog's stomach to try to grab the push pin, if finding it with an endoscope didn't work, perhaps with the help of a fluoroscope to get the magnet as close as possible to the pin.
@katmandudawn84172 жыл бұрын
With that kind of push pin only the shaft and point is metal. So if you are using a magnet you are pulling the sharp point towards you. If there are any folds or body points between the magnet and the pin you may cause the pin to go through the flesh. That is exactly what they are trying to avoid. Without being able to see the pin and to be confident in your ability to have control when trying to maneuver the pin, Dr Scot was wise not to risk it.

My mother is English and I grew up in England and the United States so I'm kind of bilingual in that respect! What part of the video were you referring to? There's so many differences in pronunciations and spellings, the British use an 'S' a lot of times in place of a 'Z', and basically are non-rhotic. When I'm in England, people get a charge out of my American accent. Here in the states, they get a charge out of my English accent!

Back in the day--not so common anymore, these kinds of pins/thumbtacks/pushpins were often used to hold draft drawings (such as architecture plans or fashion designs) in place on a wall board or drafting table for display for clients to examine. Thus the name "drawing pin".

With an object that has a sharp end like a pin, there's too much risk of puncturing or cutting the internal organs. I just don't see a vet wanting to use an item like a magnet. It would have too much potential for causing more damage to the animal. It's why they prefer to go in via endoscope, first, if they can, and try for a simple pick-it-up extraction, instead. They only go for surgery as a last resort.

@DrachenGothik6662 жыл бұрын
No. Not enough fine control over an object where you don't know the exact location, nor the exact way it was laying in the stomach. It has a dangerous point on it and there would be too much risk of it ripping into delicate linings. The inside of a stomach isn't smooth. It's full of ripples and folds--it grinds food as part of the digestion process. It's not just acids that break foods down--the stomach is a series of muscles.
