And it gives the appearance that they aren’t in my ear so I can still hear people. I wear the cheaper aftershocks literally all day, every day. I've been watching all your videos through them, actually. I agree, the audio quality isn't amazing, but it's fine. Why I love them is simple... They can just be worn, 24/7 comfortably. You can pause your podcast/audiobook/music and have a conversation without removing them. You forget they are there, and start to think your phone has a magical ability to just beam music straight into your ears! Plus, I run a lot of power tools for my work and hobbies... With these, you can toss in some earplugs, protect your hearing while running an angle grinder, and still be lost in an epic story via an audiobook! That IS magic, in my book. I have many headphones, and after getting these, I completely lost interest in all my other headphones. They aren't the best at audio, but they are the best at daily life. Heck, you can even put gaming headphones over them, and listen to a podcast while playing your favorite video game at the same time, without effecting the audio of the game at all! MAGIC!

Not a problem with these.

Similar thing here. The bleed really isn't all that bad unless you're blasting your music and honestly at the lower levels I tend to play at (25-40%) you really can't hear it at all as a bystander. I also love having the ability to listen to music and just be aware of my surroundings at the same time. Yeah, the sound quality can't compare to buds / traditional headphones, but I'm content with it as the biggest perk is their convenience (not to say the sound quality is terrible, it's decent).

The bleeding on bone-conduction headphones isn't as bad when you're wearing them - the reason you can hear it so clearly is that the surface that normally transmits the vibrations to your body is instead sending them to the open air. It's not as private as in-ear headphones, but there's less bleed than the mass-market over-ears that came with CD players and early mp3 players when I was a kid.

I've got a pair of the Z8s myself, I bought them for one of the exact reasons you mentioned, I was interested in the idea of the technology, but not enough to spring for the Aftershockz. The big thing I liked about the idea was having a single device that could both do "listen to them while still being able to hear background noise" and "listen to them in isolation" with a nice pair of earbuds put in. Unfortunately the leaking means that they aren't appropriate for a lot of scenarios, so "single device" kinda goes out the window. If you are (ignoring Covid now) in a cubicle then the bleed is probably ok, but if you don't have any barrier between your coworkers it's probably not. Sharing a couch is right out, and they are probably on the rude side for an airplane as well, if you aren't going to be sitting next to family. I will say that with ear plugs in they did do the job both on the plane and even mowing the lawn, also if you hold them a little tighter against your bones than the headphones do themselves (say a headband) the sound is transmitted to you far more effectively, so you can lower the volume, and between that and the headbands dampening it that helps with the bleed a lot. But how often are you wearing a headband? Also they aren't particularly robust, my baby got her hands on them to pull them off my ear and pulled apart some of the casing instantly.

As someone who was wearing these at the time of watching this I can say you have to CRANK the volume for people to hear it
@foobarturkey3 жыл бұрын
Yea, if the room is loud enough where you have to increase the volume to bleed levels then no ones gonna hear it anyways

I have noticed that bass bleeds pretty bad at all but the lowest levels. But, that is kind of to be expected.

Yeah, I was really surprised when he said that. In my dead quiet room, without changing the volume from what I had been watching the video at, I held them out at arms length... straining my ears, I could pick out that there may have been audio playing, but only barely. I love my Aeropex. Got them when I was getting ear pain and was worried it was caused by the earbuds I was sleeping in. I now wear them all the time, pretty much. They charge fast and last long, and I can switch from listening to content to listening to the world around me without having to take anything out of my ears. Only real issue I've had is for a tendency for my mask to get tangled on it when taking the mask off

I was about to say the same thing. I had a co worker that had the After ones and I sat right next to him for 3 1/2 years and couldn't hear a thing from them.. He would blast classical, gospel and old school music through them. I only heard them once when he handed them to me. I didn't put them on just put them next to my ear. Only then could I hear them. They might of been in a quiet room to be able to hear anything from them. I kinda want a pair for work since they don't want us using NC headphones..Ofc the only ones I got are either open back or ANC headphones.

I have had a pair of bone conduction headphones from aftershokz for about 3 years. They're super durable, they sound fine, and the battery still lasts all day. Do they sound amazing? No. Can I wear them all day in the office and still hear people talking to me? Yes. Can I go for a hike and hear nature while listening to a podcast? Yes. Totally worth it for that kind of stuff imo. Also the bleed is only bad if you go above 50% volume on mine.

i have pretty good hearing but i appreciate tech like this so much as it helps people who have lost hearing or maybe never had it to experience music........it's really not something that's worth living without

i just got a pair for christmas- i've always been deaf in one ear and had mild hearing loss in the other. these? these are my favorite headphones, point blank period. i can hear songs as they were INTENDED now, which is amazing. bohemian rhapsody is 10x better now with these. i can sacrifice a LITTLE audio bleed for the joy these bring me, honestly

My dad has these, he got them so that he wouldn't have his ears covered and he could more easily hear the outside world when he was doing things and listening to music, never knew that ear bleed was a thing that wasn't expected, fascinating

I got some for my fiancé who had his right eardrum burst when he was 8 from an ear infection. It was so awesome seeing him hear his favorite music in stereo for the first time in years, and for that I love these things.

Bone conduction headphones are really good for the specific use case of hearing music while also wearing hearing protection - I have a pair of Aftershockz Trek Airs that I use with earplugs when I'm doing yardwork with my loud lawnmower or leafblower.
@DuncanJimmy3 жыл бұрын
I own the Aftershokz and couldn't agree with everything he said more. What I will say as someone who rides and motorbike and kayaks, having something that's both waterproof and leaves my ears free to hear my environment is invaluable - and they're super comfortable under helmets. First video I've seen from DankPods, and now I'm a subscriber.
