Caught this movie last week at a preview screening, and MAN…what a movie. As someone who is LGBT, this movie really hit me hard, and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that it was directed by Luca Guadagnino who is a gay man. There’s so many moments that felt lifted and adapted from my childhood and growing up and realizing that I was gay. The loneliness, the desire, eventually meeting other people like me, and accepting myself and looking for acceptance from others…it resonated with me. It’s in my top five films of the year

Luca Guadagnino is an AMAZING director. He has a way of making you feel emotions you’ve never even felt before. When I saw CMBYN, I was an emotional wreck for WEEKS. It seriously felt like I had felt years worth of love and heartbreak all within a 2 hour time frame 😂.. and then he did Suspiria and holy crap. The original from 1977 is my favorite horror movie of all time, so I was very nervous.. but he managed to come in and go a completely opposite way with it, but still made it fvcking awesome.. and that massive ritual at the end was just.. ❤❤.. so I’m very hyped to watch this. I was intrigued when I first heard about this film, but only recently realized it was directed by Luca. So now I’m excited.

I haven't seen CMBYN but i didn't like the remake of suspiria it was a waste of time. The only good thing there in my opinion was Tilda Swington.

Being a recovering addict this film hit me. To me it's very much like about love and addiction and how those two things end up becoming such turmoil when they're together. Mark rilance was also so great.

I just saw this at an early screening on Sunday, and I adored it! I’m from Ohio, where they show the majority of this, so I was able to work as an extra in a couple scenes (I feel like I’m so annoying about it but it was so exciting for me as I’m a huge fan of Luca, Timothée, and Taylor) and I’ve been anticipating this since it filmed last summer. It blew me away. It toes the line so well between horror and romance. It’s so unsettling in some moments, and then sweet and endearing in others. The gore didn’t bother me at all but it got some people in my screening (my mom especially) I just absolutely loved it. It’s going to be a classic.

I LOVED this movie. I rarely give movies more than a 7/10 and this was a 8 for me. Maybe my favourite of the year so far. Even though there was 'slow' parts (and I say slow loosely because to me slow=boring and it defo was not boring), these parts were intergral to the character and world building. Highly recommend :)

Just saw this film. Really loved it. It was mesmerizing. I hadn’t made the “fluid” connection between this film and CMBYN, but yeah I was expecting the saliva to get it’s own billing in the credits. This is one of those times I wish you did a “spoiler” reaction, because I think I know who you are referring to when you talk about a “creepy” character, but then again I could see it being someone else entirely. Definitely one of my favourites this year. Love the channel.

I have read the book. I'm dying to see the movie. From what I've read and seen on youtube, the book and the film differ significantly. They differ not only in plot points but also in the nature of the "eating." In the book, there is definitely a sexual link. It seems like that is not a factor in the movie at all, but I haven't seen it yet. The two characters they're sitting with at the campfire in the trailer are not present in the book. Maren is only 16 in the book, which is much younger than the actress... but older actors playing younger roles is pretty normal in films. The identity of Mark Rylance's character is different in the book than what I"ve heard about from the movie. Additionally, Maren is abandoned by her MOTHER in the book and goes looking for her FATHER. I'm not sure why that change is made. It looks like her dad's story from the book is quite similar to what happens to the Chloe Sevigny mom character from the trailer. I can't wait to see this flick.

Love to see this positive review! Thing is I read the book and found it very disappointing. It reads rather young, there is a lot of emphasis on the romance and so much angst with that (the girl is constantly going how she was not good enough for the boy since she is cannibal but I thought the fact that both were cannibals is there connection so it made no sense that's why she felt like he wouldn't want her), I thought the plot with the villain was developed in a very predictable way and several things didn't make sense about it. BUT it had the potential to be so much better in movie form and I liked the beginning and ending of the book. I thought so many elements could work better on screen, for one getting out of the protagonist's head and her whiny voice. Then I saw the trailer and loved the look of it: the movie seems so much more daring and edgier than the book is. I am going to watch it now!
