I was in college in the early 70s and his first album came out.. with Illegal smile on it I believe.. a big influence on my playing.. Kacey.. was passed the torch.. Truly missing this man.. RIP John.. we all miss you.

I’m afraid my appreciation of JP came too late to see him live. Very disappointed as I live close to RedRocks. And, Kacey’s songwriting on this one is so good. Sure, she has the voice of a TX-Angel but great lyrics and progression. I love the bridge and transitions into/out of it. Clearly inspired by a true hero. RIP, Handsome Johnny.

Illegal smile. Saw Prine at the Armidillo World headquarters when I was a UT in the 70's. I do not think who knew how popular he was in Austin. He did this song and we all sang along. He stopped 1/2 through it and let us sing it. His concert was great . Seeing him at Red Rocks this Sunday.

I LOVE John Prine , every time he comes around here I have seen him (Even 7 months pregnant 💙) and I will see him again and again....!!! And I took my daughter and my youngest son to see Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves was with her and she was AMAZING !!! I was really surprised... I didn't hear her sing this song though 😢 I would go see her again, she is a great songwriter& has a fantastic voice.

Winston Magill Judge Julius Hoffman was the Federal District Court judge of northern Illinois and was on the bench for the Chicago 8 then 7 Conspiracy trial 1969-1970, where he showed a marked contempt for hippies and the counter-culture. (we held him in pretty high contempt in turn) Hardly someone you'd want ruling on one's late night stoned ruminations. In group joke that made sense at the time.
