Tony is an amazing keyboard player, but I'm totally baffled when he say's Casio have never made anything quite like the PX560. The Casio PX5-S Stage Piano came out over three years ago, sounds incredible, has an amazing synth engine, has the same textured keys and is used by many gigging professionals. That aside, both pianos are stunning.

Silver Birch I agree, he said never heard Casio make a piano sound like it .... but its exactly the same as the px360 sound (which is good, but still)

Thank you, Tony, for your excellent review and great playing. Casio has long been regarded as a lower price "alternative" brand, with a good sound, but not in the same league with Roland, Yamaha & others. This new PX560 makes Casio as a serious contender with others regarded as "elite" brands! The piano sound is astonishingly close to fine acoustic grand tone. At this price, Casio PX560 offers features the others lack! For example: I need dedicated control for transpose, etc, which this Casio has The other brands at this price have one button for multiple functions which you must hold, and then also simultaneously press assigned key-notes to execute the change--requiring two hands operation, so you can't make changes while playing on live gigs.

This would be a most amazing keyboard ... if not for organ sounds. I love what Casio have been doing on the latest years, improving a lot. But the organs! why oh why. 80s keyboards had better organs. Truly. And I think it's time for a new model. I know this one only in the last couple of years has raised interest (because it was wrongly marketed as a "stage piano" whereas it is a workstation), but a new, revised one would be a much welcomed addition.

You think the workflow of one compares with the other - as ease of use and making logical sense from one motion to the other?
@hienvu17145 жыл бұрын
If Lyn used the Tyros to play piano or electric piano then the PX-560 would be a huge improvement. I bought a 76-key Tyros 5 thinking I could get by playing piano or electronic piano on it when I'm just messing around and don't want to turn on another keyboard but I can't so I have a PX-560 above the Tyros just for piano and electric pianos. I also have a Korg Kronos 88 and a Yamaha MOXF8 in another room. I prefer the 560 over both of those.

Hien Vu , Me too, I have a PX 560, a Korg PA 4X 76 , a Roland VR -09B & a Roland BK7m module(which both have RD Piano sounds onboard) but even when I midi any of these out of the nice action 88 note PX 560, I still prefer the Casio Piano sound & most importantly it seems to 'amp up' on stage better than the others, particularly the Roland's , although as a recording workstation the PA 4X is out on its own & the auto backings on the BK7m & PA 4X are on a different level to the Casio . However the Casio is not marketed as a Workstation although it is usable as one, is highly editable & has a monster synth engine separate to the piano engine. Horses for courses etc!!
@donhowardii16267 жыл бұрын
I watched another video where they compared this with a Kawai MP7 and a Korg Kronos. I closed my eyes while listening to the piano sounds of each to see which one I would pick. To my surprise, I picked the Casio Privia PX560 every time. This seems like an amazing instrument for the money.

I'm only just familiarizing with this machine, but a major disappointment has been not being able to name the sounds (that is, tunes) stored in the User Registrations. @higgy77625 жыл бұрын
why not. Piano sound has it's defects but it 's not so bad either (who says it's 'perfect' has no ears). In that price range, the keybed is really good and at the level of Roland PHA-4 (on FP10-60). The operation with the touch screen is totally self explaining and ultrafast - I wish, it'd be also on the PX5S :)
@stringsnare5 жыл бұрын
thanks for your comment. I am gonna buy it. I was waiting for Namm 2020 but looks like casio don't wanna update this. theres a few other competitors from korg & Yamaha but not 88 key. thanks man!
@higgy77625 жыл бұрын
@@stringsnare as obviously you are serious, some more words: the keybed is rather on the heavy side. It's not easy to play for a beginner, eventually consider it as good training :) The 'natural sounds' (trumpets, solo strings, etc) are so lala, as are the vintage organs (this is still a bit Bontempi era). The piano sound is a bit metallic, somewhat guitar-like and there are pronounced transitions where the multi-note samples change - not so nice. My recommendation is: try to get used to it ;) The factory synth sounds are IMPRESSING. And then there is the hex-layer editor that you can use to layer different sounds, e.g strings+brass, but also use as an virtual analog synthesizer with 6 (!) oscillators. A good example is shown here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmbPlXZop8Z2o9E (kudos to Casio for their video tutorials which turn other manufacturers pale). You should register to official www.casiomusicforums.com providing a lot of sounds and patches for download. I'm no Casio aficionado and normally end up with Roland gear, but truth must be told :)

Will studio monitors provide a significant improvement in sound quality over the internal speakers of this piano or will the improvement be negligible? (For home / amateur playing, not for professional playing or sound design).
@bonnersmusic7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jens. This would depend on the size and quality of the studio monitor speakers - basic small / cheap monitors wouldn't be worth getting, but a decent pair eg: Yamaha HS7 or HS8 would possibly be an improvement.

No it absolutely doesn't. Roland is the leader in digital piano world, much better than Yamaha and Casio so I would advise you to spend your money wisely on a Roland instead.
@icarusi8 жыл бұрын
The Casio does have long samples but the're less complex sounding than the Korg Krome which has full length piano samples in a large memory bank. The downside, the Krome has a couple of clunky keys sampled which should never have been used. I have both boards and the Casio needs a close listen to hear the difference. IMO it sounds better than Yamahas, other than the most recent model. In normal use you won't notice. but if you want to end a piece with a very long sustained note or chord on a recording, it's worth checking the various boards yourself. If you can't hear the difference then it won't matter.
@bobcatt22946 жыл бұрын
Huan, most interesting comment. Decay is most important, especially within the realm of classical music, or utilizing the classical style, which would include movie scores. The following is from Casio: Damper Resonance gives you the deep feeling of the piano’s soundboard interacting with the strings. String Resonance models the harmonic relationships between vibrating strings. Hammer Response mimics the time between pressing the key and the hammer striking the strings. Key Off Simulation gives you control of a note’s decay by how quickly the key is released. And with a massive 256 notes of polyphony, you won’t have to worry about dropped notes, even while all of these incredible details are being recreated. www.casio.com/products/electronic-musical-instruments/privia-digital-pianos/px-560
