MADE UP MIND
(Written by David Landreth/Joseph Sydney Landreth/Jonathan Singleton)
It starts out slow
With go ahead and go
Pretty soon the melody is like a rainstorm tin roof symphony
But it starts out slow
It goes on and on
For way too long
It always ends on a bad note
If you could dance at all you'd dance alone
It goes on and on
The quiet behind a slamming door
The break of a heart that won't break no more
Get-away wheels in a straight line
Serenade of a made up mind
There ain't no rhyme
Just wasted time
Moonlight spotlight shining down on
A made up mind and a love gone wrong
There ain't no rhyme
The quiet behind a slamming door
The break of a heart that won't break no more
Get-away wheels in a straight line
Serenade of a made up mind
The quiet behind a slamming door
The break of a heart that won't break no more
Get-away wheels in a straight line
Serenade of a made up mind

My late Bride would bust into dance every time Bonnie or SRV was playing, and we had the blues playing all day & all night in the background. My wife would be deep into a work issue on the computer, but nothing made her move like hearing Bonnie. We’d dance in the living room, and she’d make me play more Bonnie, until we couldn’t dance anymore. Those were very, very good times.

I was at Bonnie’s Georgetown University Concert in April 1973. 49 years ago..I was 20 she was 24. I remember her voice, her slide guitar and her flaming red hair. I remember thinking ..it doesn’t get better than this…almost 50 years later, I discover yes, it can..love you Ms Bonnie..

"WE DON'T STOP PLAYING BECAUSE WE GROW OLD, WE GROW OLD BECAUSE WE STOP PLAYING." --- GEORGE BERNARD SHAW Bonnie, what a stellar inspiration as an artist and a human being. And she already radiated much of that joie de vivre when I first saw her many years ago at the Macalester College Union!

@@crosbycofod5052 Don’t disagree, but I bet Bros will make a million off the sale of this song, and the door is open to sell more. At the end of the day, why would Joey & company want to jump into that arena? They’re already legends in the the hearts of those they respect most, they’ll go in any direction they please, and play with who they want. Great musicians are blown away by the Bros, they’re in the best of all worlds. Now if we fans could persuade Ariel back into the band for another run at Tedeschi Trucks type gigs, exposure, records…… Man I’m not disagreeing with you one bit, just adding my thoughts.

Bonnie Raitt has always been a blues star, and played with the best. She has even been voted best blues guitarist a few times. Her style maybe flows over to some other types of music but I would not ever call Bonnie Raitt a country singer ✌❤🌻

I saw Bonnie in 1970 in Andover, Massachusetts. I asked her then if she had any recordings out, and she said, "oh, no, I'm nowhere near that stage yet." That fall, when I entered college in Philadelphia, she opened for Cat Stevens at a concert at my school. I had never heard of Cat Stevens, but I went there to see Bonnie. All my fellow students were thoroughly confused when I said I was there to see Bonnie, and not some dude named Cat Stevens. They all asked, "who in the world in Bonnie Raitt?" I said, "Just listen to her sing. You'll see." They ALL understood after the concert. I understand there was some booze and some dope along the way.A Grammy or two as well. Fifty-two years is a long time. But she STILL is "THE" voice. Big Red still has it.

Best Live Concert of ALL Time: Jackson MS - Saenger Theater - on a Wednesday night - early 1070's Little Feat and Bonnie - there was less than a hundred people who showed - Little Feat came on first and rushed through a lack-luster let's-get-this-over performance - Bonnie followed; came on stage, and opened with " Well, thank both of y'all for coming " and laughed - proceeded to gather everyone there to the front of the stage - sat on the edge of the stage with her feet dangling off and got real close and personal - soon had several people from the audience sitting on stage with her and playing various instruments they had brought - then about half of Little Feat came out and joined in - it became a jamsession which lasted till the Saenger folks turned off the power and ran us out with just the emergency lighting on - absolutely wonderful
