A pork roast that size has to be cooked in the crock pot for about 12 hours on low or longer. It will fall apart and be amazing I promise. The last one I made I had in for 16 hours on low. I put it on before bedtime and it was perfect at dinner the next day. Hope it ended up turning out for you. 💖 ps. I’m ordering that bbq sauce!! Can’t wait to try it.

Wendell Monster I’ve never used root beer.....do you use both? Equal amounts?
@wendellmonster61795 жыл бұрын
smylinjenn40 No actually I use A&W root beer 24 ounces (2 cans ) and I added one cup of the Sweet baby Ray’s barbecue sauce to the pork butt or pork shoulder cooking & I put onion and garlic salt & pepper while its cooking and then after you retrieve the garlic and the onions and some of the juice after you shred the pork pulling away the fat from the pork you add it back into the crockpot you put back the onions and the garlic and a little bit of the juice (not much ) with some more barbecue sauce to taste I hope that helps 👍

Hi Bonnie, to make crock pot pulled pork you need to buy pork loin. Restaurants use pork shoulder or Boston butt (Ha Ha, no pun intended) . If you want beef, you buy chuck roast or skirt steak. I cook it in the oven for about 4 hours and it comes out super tender. I don't have a crock pot or insta pot, I don't see why it wouldn't work for you. Good luck!
@nataliepustina5 жыл бұрын
I’ve never shredded a pork tenderloin. I’ve always cut it into medallions/steaks on the bias and served in that manner.

Any meat should shred if cooked long enough! A fun trick, root beer and bbq sauce help tenderize while cooking. Hope you put that sucker back in the slow cooker and ate it the next day instead❤️

Bonnie, first off, you know you are one lucky gal to have a Joel in your life! So, even when the pork has issues, you got a real man to take your worries away. Second, I think , in my own opinion, the reason why the meat isn't tender is because you didn't seer(?) it FIRST before you put it in the crockpot. It might also be tough because the BBQ sauce has salt in it. Salt dries out meat. You are suppose to cook meat/pork first, get it about 3/4 of the way cooked, and then add the BBQ sauce. At least that's how all the places I ever worked in catering/bakery businesses did it. Love you all!!

Yeah, Joel is right... I'm sure the pork was "done" temp wise, but if you want pork to fall apart, you have to cook it a long long time. Even in my instant pot (which as you know, cooks way faster than a crock pot), I will cook a pork loin for 3-4 hrs. It falls apart beautifully! 😀 I loved Boston's segments! 😍
@kridder10185 жыл бұрын
I generally do a pork loin for pulled pork and cook it in the oven for at least 3-4 hours (at about 425-450) with plenty of liquid or in the crock pot on high for 6-8 hours. Then I know its tender and all sorts of pulled pork ready. Boston playing was cute as heck!
@aidanegron13855 жыл бұрын
Boston unknowingly mimicking what Joel was doing , was too cute. In order for pork to shred the way you wanted it to, you have to cook it 6-10 hours. You should also make cuts into the meat in order for seasoning to reach the center and for the heat to reach the center properly.

I love how giddy you are about Joel as if you were still in high school. For pork like that what I do is I butter it down really good cut a few skits in it here and there and then sprinkle meat tenderizer on it. It always comes out super moist and easy to pull apart.
@ashleyvirts67655 жыл бұрын

Bonnie I put my pork roast in the crockpot over night, pork tenderloin is the only one that I put in for a few hours it cooks faster than roast does. Also if you put more water in it ,and a teaspoon of lemon juice it breaks the meat down faster.
@robinp44395 жыл бұрын
For a pork roast that big, start it in the morning, I'd say by 7 or 8am and let it cook all day until dinner around 6pm ish. Crock pots are slow cookers, so need a lot more time than regular roasting in the oven. Good luck next time!!
