Bonsai Maintenance: Japanese Flowering Quince 'Toyo Nishiki' and Blue Atlas Cedar Bonsai

Maintenance is not the most exciting part of bonsai but very relaxing!
I remove the flowers off my Japanese Flowering Quince. This prevents the fruit from forming which normally takes a lot of the energy from the plant and weakens it. This will allow my tree to utilize that energy to grow more foliage and branches
I also remove the dead needles from my Blue Atlas Cedar. This tree is in its early stages. This is more for an aesthetic reason.

Blue Atlas Cedars are one of my favorite species! The small needles and color are so attractive to me! Good luck with yours!

Beautiful, very big quince! 👏 Mine are tiny, lol. Started w 2.75-4” pots. I planted 6 in the ground in 2020 as garden plants, and they are super slow, lol (I prefer slow plants tho) - toyo nishiki, contorted salmon pink, 2x iwai nishiki, kan toyo, o yashima. Think it’s my fave plant… at least top3.
