Step 1: Set caltrops in a choke point and wait for an enemy to be stopped by them. Step 2: throw a net with your action then bonus action chain them up. Now they need two separate actions to break restraints. Step 3: bonus action our oil in their space/on them, then step back and throw alchemist fire at them. Watch them burn and if they want to drop prone to roll the fire out, remind the DM they are surrounded by caltrops... Not the most damage, but just a brutal way to take out an enemy.

A net could work great here! Good addition

Rogues are an amazingly versatile class, and this just makes that better.

This was an eye-opening video for me. Having read the Thief, I thought I understood it, until you listed off all those item abilities. In my next campaign, I definitely want to play a Thief.

It's a real bummer that Thieves lost the ability to chuck Alchemist Fire and Acid, but I'll take the bonus action magic items for that any day. Good video, solid build idea. I appreciate that you took a while to think about the backstory/flavor for this build, too.

Thieves are great in 2024. My favorite build so far is the brilliant thief. Make Intelligence primary. Dexterity secondary. Take 1 level in wizard, either at level 1 or 2. Oh, with an elf (any elf) species. From level four on, you will be using half your long rest to make cantrip scrolls. Every other long rest, you will have a new scroll of true strike. Using that scroll, with the lucky feat or hiding, you can make a true strike attack with your shortbow as a bonus action. Then use your action to ready a true strike casting on the next person turn, giving you another sneak attack with Advantage, thanks to the Vex property of shortbows. Now every round that you have a scroll, you can make two sneak attacks and rack up the damage. At level 18, because thieves get two turns in the first round, you can make 4 true strike sneak attacks! Now this tactic might get old, but you can use other spell scrolls for other cool effects. Or other magic items at 14 (because of the wizard level). But Sage has opened my mind to the utilize action and equipment.

Sounds like a great build!

@ericpeterson8732 If we take 2 more wizard levels for the evocation subclass, we our cantrips will never miss again.😮😊😅

I like the Sorcerer dip version of this build a little more than the Wizard version. You get everything that the Wizard version gets that you listed, but you also get: - Innate Sorcery for instant advantage/sneak attack on your True Strike attacks - Con Saves if you go Sorcerer first - Charisma primary stat is far more useful outside of combat - Metamagic should you wish to take further levels of Sorcerer, meaning you can Quickened Spell your True Strike to a Bonus Action and then Ready Action your main action Sneak Attack for doubling your Sneak Attacks in one round.

STRogue has already always been a viable build. Now with the grappler feat even more so and thief is just the cherry on top.

@@Sweet_Zombie_Cheezuz While I agree that all of the things you have are entirely great reasons play sorcerer instead of wizard, especially had it been any other subclass of wizard. Sorcerer however doesn't get evocations deal half damage on a miss. While half of sneak attack may not be as much as we would, half is still more tha missing on sorcerer. I suppose that it depends on how high the campaign goes. Really high lvl, than 3 in wizard has it's perks. In all other we might be better of with sorcerer. Which sorcerer has your preference? I could see aberrant mind being pretty good with their list. (Freaky whisper spell, cleric initiate for command: flee)

I'm about to run a Goliath Rogue myself, but it's an Abjuration Wizard multiclass.

The wizard subclass I'm looking forward to playing in Abjurer. Especially since healing word is now an abjuration spell. Which you can pick up from magic initiate cleric or druid.

Though remember you have to stay unarmored or you can't use Dex for the grapples! So no shield nor armor
@filipesilva2545Ай бұрын
U can use the Net that was reworked to restrain them as an action and then as bonus action put rope, chain, manacles so they are now doble restrain they have to use u ations to free them sefs

How do you have space for the attack action if bonus action is utilize and main action is grapple?
@DnD_DailyАй бұрын
On the first turn of the combo, you may not be able to attack, instead starting to get sneak attacks each turn after on our enemies. Alternatively, if you use the Monk's bonus action unarmed strike to grapple, you then have advantage on your attack that turn, due to the grappler feat.

A monk's dex based grappling doesn't work when wearing armor.

Good catch! We're ideally using no armor as it will hopefully be as good as light armor, but this is good to remember

Why do you say to put Constitution above Wisdom? I have a 16 and a 14 to split, but wouldn't the Monk's Def be better in Wisdom?

While the wisdom gives AC, Con gives HP. Just depends which one you value more 👍

Thanks for replying, what options do you take for the level 8 Feat?@@DnD_Daily
@ChickenInTheRaw45 күн бұрын
@@yacronaa3575not sure if he’ll answer, but I’d recommend taking an ASK for +2 Dex, getting it to 20. That’ll bump your initiative up by 1, AC up by 1, Attack rolls up, Damage up, and most importantly bump your save DC up for grappling

Thank you very much! I see that for level 9 it would be one of the best options. Although with the level 4 Feat I already increased the Dexterity to 19@@ChickenInTheRaw4
@ChickenInTheRaw416 сағат бұрын
@@yacronaa3575 ohhh if it’s split then that’s tough. Perhaps there’s another half feat to take? Getting Dex to 20 asap is pretty important, but if you’re willing to wait you could put +2 into WIS then for the AC boost then
