by definition of the hobby we are all idiots, that's what makes us the best people to be around. Can't wait to see the finished product, I know it's going to be absolutely show car stunning and stupid fast!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to keep watching the progress!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@scottrussell22814 ай бұрын
Regardless of what it ends up running, I can't imagine there being a faster convertible anywhere in the world. At 2950lbs I would think your goal of 3.99 is attainable. 5.99? Going that fast to the quarter takes a ton of power. It'll be interesting to see how close you can get, but I'm guessing you'll need more boost than the current setup can make? But hey, I've never been quicker than high 4's, so I'm just thinking from math, not from experience. You're going places I've never been and will likely never go. Freaking car is gonna be awesome regardless.

You could even move the seat back since you’re cutting all of it out and going traditional 4 link. I really like the way Cameron Johnson does his cages. The driver sits behind the main hoop not in front of it. Seems like it helps out weight over the rear with the seat being back.
@theholleyefiguy4 ай бұрын
We’re leaving the main hoop where it’s at I might be able to convince Matt to move the seat back a few inches though lol

I’m sure you’ve heard it before, but those of us the build these things are rarely ever satisfied. I had barely finished my car and washed it before I did exactly what you’re doing. Because I knew where the warts and problems were below the surface and that I wouldn’t be satisfied until they were taken care of. Problem is, NOW I don’t have a car to race and these projects take a lot of time. Yours might not take as long as mine, since you know the right people and can afford to have some of the work done. I do it all myself. Anyway, looking forward to watching the journey. My guess is 550#s. What the heck have you done…!!! LOL

It'll be good to get some of those layers of paint off of the car and go through/simplify as much as possible. It's always been an incredible car, but it seems like you've possibly found the limit of triangulated 4 link, and a parallel setup should give you more capability. I do wonder though, would a coyote engine save some weight up front???
@theholleyefiguy3 ай бұрын
It would save weight but won’t run nearly as fast. Coyotes don’t like weight, and we can’t get light enough to utilize it
@keefershotrodshop3 ай бұрын
@@theholleyefiguy I hear you on that. Just thought I'd pick on you a little bit for having that Chevy motor up front, but big blocks definitely rule and yours is a very nice example of one. I think you're right about getting some extra bars out of there and going with the parallel 4 link. I can't wait to see the 'vert back together. You keep it clean for sure and I'm looking forward to seeing some quicker time slips out of that awesome street car.
