Great video. Enjoyed the additional info. Must say you moved around a fair bit that day. I remember as a youngster bunking off school in Sussex Road to watch trains on the yard footbridge and opposite what was then West yard signal box. That was until the school inspector arrived. Once again grassed up by the signalman. Those were the days when the Bullied Pacific’s put on a show struggling to restart heavy trains on the uphill curve towards Hildenborough and Sevenoaks. Happy Times. All the best Mick.

I invested in an electrically assisted bicycle during lockdown. It has given me the confidence to take it with me on some of my outings, which means I can get to more vantage points. I would never have attempted this with my old cycle. Having said that the new bike is much heavier and getting it up and down the stairs on footbridges can be a trial.

Great video as always. My partner lived 5 mins walk away from Tonbridge Stn and used to commute from there. I lived there with him for a while until we moved to the west of T Wells in 2007. At one time Southern ran a service from Tonbridge to Horsham via Gatwick (reversing at Redhill) which was very handy if we were travelling by air. Sadly they then stopped it. I noticed on the timetable that there also used to be one early morning train around 0500 from GIllingham to Gatwick via Strood, Tonbridge and Redhill. I think it was a Southeastern service but not sure about that. Can't think why it ran, possibly a stock positioning service.

A lot of half hearted efforts have been made to capture traffic to Gatwick. They all fail due to a perceived lack of reliability. Finding out that the next train isn't for another two hours due to a cancellation isn't helpful when you are going for a flight.

People still get confused with Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells. And both towns are nearer to each other but I think Tonbridge is in Kent and Tunbridge Wells is in East Sussex. And yes Govia who are currently operating the Southeastern franchise is to be taken over by the DfT on the 17th October and therefore Southeastern will be renamed as SE Trains or will it still be Southeastern after the 17th October.

I believe the town council of Tonbridge changed the name more than a century ago to help differentiate their town from the other.

No, Tunbridge Wells is in Kent.

Ok so Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells are in Kent. Anyways you should film some Class 707s that are in service including operating on the Hayes Line, Dartford Loop and at London Cannon Street, Charing Cross, Orpington, Lewisham, Greenwich, London Bridge and Sevenoaks.
