What a great book haul, Gavin! Those Arthur C. Clarke books are really great. That Harry Harrison cover is wild! East of Eden is a beautiful novel. I think I had forgotten Classics and Company was doing it this year. You found some real treasures here!😊📚👍🏼

Haha! 😅 The cover just flops over- plot twist! Freakin’ good haul maybe not the same vibes but those covers are still pretty sweet. Dude, I’ve dipped out twice on trying to participate in the Classics & Company reads. I’m weak, too 🫢 I still might finish The Pillow Book cause it’s one you can enjoy bit by bit.

I've always meant to read A Dance to the Music of Time, but just looking at that row of 12 volumes is intimidating (and people complain about Proust's measly 6!). Then I saw that the University of Chicago had published the series in 4 volumes, 3 books in each. They were subtitled "First Movement," Second, Third and Fourth. I found some good used copies at Thrift Books. This may be another series to tackle next year, along with Proust. They can act as palate cleansers for each other. Now I also have the Cazalet series on my Kindle...

If Proust is as breezy a read as ADTTMOT, then we're laughing. I somehow don't think this will be the case however..

East of Eden is great, I think most people's favourite. I enjoyed The Passage, the second one not as much and I never got to the third one, they remind me a bit of Stephen King. Some truly classic book covers on display.
