Fanthorpe is is a real self-starter. He wrote so much of Badger Books output. The publishers would commission the artwork, and once he saw it, would dictate a book, and move into the next one. John Christopher was a revelation for me: I had read “The Tripods” trilogy when I was a kid, had no idea he even wrote for adults. I’ll let you know if “Starbrat” lives up to the title :)

That SF magazine history book looks fascinating. I'd be really interested to hear your thoughts on that. I've heard a lot about Lionel Fanthorpe, but I've never read any of his stuff, and unfortunately it's hard to find out here. Haven't read John Brunner or John Christopher either 🤣But I've heard a lot of good things about The Death of Grass. Didn't realize a big part of his stock-in-trade was ending the world. 😛Childhood's End I have read, and it's an absolute classic. Only read it for the first time a couple years ago and loved it. Really need to read more Clarke. The Dunsany Ballantine paperback is indeed an amazing find! Those Ballantine Adult Fantasy books are a serious want of mine, but they're getting harder and harder to track down (and more expensive, too 😩). Starbrat is quite a title! Very curious as to what that one's like. Quite the varied haul! I'd have said something about every piece, but this comment is long enough. 🤣Great video!
