One of the social guidance / scare films made by prolific filmmaker Sid Davis, "Book Him!" was produced in the 1960s. It shows various youth / delinquents and the crimes they commit, and centers on the story of a white, teenage boy who is arrested. Titles over police paperwork, mug shot, fingerprints file- "Book him!" / "Made with the cooperation of the Torrance Unified School District and Torrance Police Department." Book cover: "Crime in the United States-Uniform Crime Reports" (0:23). Words appear: “All statistics in this film are taken from ‘Uniform Crime Reports,’ published annually by the U.S. Department of Justice.” Closeup: boys and girls play volleyball, other games on campus (0:34). Two boys (maybe of East Asian heritage?) dribble basketball, shoot, miss (0:43), other boy dribbles to hoop. Brief shot of full moon (0:55). Closeup: smashed, broken windows (0:59). White boy throwing objects at windows in classroom (1:02). Ink cannisters smashing against wall. Boy spray paints wall. Chairs, desks thrown against walls. Books lying on floor, pages torn out, massive ink stains surrounding (1:12). Red peace sign on wall (1:16). Cut: two white police officers at scene of outdoor spray-painting (vandalism), three white teenage boys facing / leaning against wall, hands up, legs spread, police car in foreground. Red paint includes: names, heart, face, peace sign, other symbols. One officer watches from side while other officer pats boys down. Corner of schoolyard with bikes, fence, tree, grass (1:37). Blonde boy steals bike, rides away quickly (suburban streets) (1:40). Handcuffed boy loaded into police car while family watches from front steps, bike on lawn (1:56). Grey-haired store employee talks with teenage girl at jewelry counter, white woman watches (2:01). Closeup: woman's face; she looks around. Expensive-looking boxed bracelet set lying on counter ("Hamilton") (2:10). Girl looks around for witnesses, snatches bracelets, puts in handbag, walks quickly away (2:15). In security office, girl sitting at desk while staff make calls, paperwork (2:30). Parking lot, zoom: teenage boy looks into cars, checks for witnesses, opens passenger door, runs off with purse (2:38). Cop knocks on young thief’s door; he answers (3:04). Girls play ball at school (3:10), zoom on lockers. Hand extended with drugs in palm (blunt, pills) (3:21). Black girl with pigtails looks at white boy handing her drugs (closeups: faces). She hands him cash, he gives her drugs with other hand (closeups: hands, drug deal). She quickly walks away, he closes locker (3:30). School administrator walks alongside policeman, boy, girl towards police vehicle on campus (3:34). Boys wrestling outside (3:44). Boy pulls knife from boot, assaults other, who cries out, clutches body in pain on grass near playground. Assailant flees. Officer with unconscious boy next to him in police vehicle, driving (suburbia) (4:04). Kids play on campus. Girl in flannel serves volleyball; volley continues (4:10). Boys play basketball (4:25). School sports fields in use (4:40). Torrance police vehicle pulls up to garage door (4:50). Mustachioed white cop helps handcuffed white boy in pink shirt out of vehicle, walks to door, pushes buzzer. Black cop inside looks through metal screen, buzzes them in. Various scenes of boy being processed into police station, including many closeups of hands / doors locking / boy with vacant expression. Handcuffs / gun visible as door slams (5:22). Cop removes gun from holster, hands to desk cop (5:30). Cop leads boy through metal gate, closeup of gate locking. At screened window (5:55), white cop removes boys' handcuffs, boy rubs wrists. Boys empties pockets, removes shirt, puts items through slat in screen: keys, wallet, comb, watch, belt, shoes (his sock with hole). Items seen thrown together behind grate, locked in bags, drawer. Boy puts hands on screen, leans, leg spread, cop pats him down (view from below of boy’s face as hands grab him) (7:05). White cop leaves, locks door (7:20). Slat in screen shown locking. Black cop behind screen types on typewriter, CCTV visible (7:29). Cop lets boy into room (closeup: unlocking), gestures to come through. Boy stands on painted footprints (sock with hole), cop lifts large camera (flipped image), holds flash, takes picture. Cop fingerprints boy (closeups). Boy washes hands and is led through halls / doors to cell block. Boy in empty cell on bunk takes in surroundings (toilet, sink, graffiti). Door slams shut. “The End: A Sid Davis Production” (10:21).

before i even noticed the car i also thought by the way people are dressed this looks more like 70's than 60's. i was born in 68 so i remember how we dressed back then.

i also thought by the way people are dressed this looks more like 70's than 60's. i was born in 68 so i remember how we dressed back then.

i was born and raised in the south bay section of L.A. and have lived in torrance and all this stuff is still there except that it may look different now for various reasons.

Until LBJ and his gang took that action away through the stupid legislation he passed while he was POTUS. That contributed greatly to the increase of crime in the late '60s/early '70s, along with the immorality that came out of nowhere in the mid '60s. 😒😒😒😒😒

I grew up in a rough neighborhood of Los Angeles, and this video is right on. This video should still be shown in the public schools now, except that in California, it would likely be politically incorrect, because it supports traditional law enforcement.
