Ohh also zines! They’re very 2000s. Underground hand made typed, collaged, cut and pasted mini magazines, made by fans (mostly of music and bands, but later on other subjects) had a cult following. Nowadays people create them on all different subjects, and they’re lots of fun! Start googling and you’ll go down a rabbit hole!!!

You could do sewing and embroidery pages out of the book and then sew the pages together to create a book, or glue/use double sided tape secure embroidery into a book. I like to do cross stitch, but I'm running out of wall space to display things (and some of my walls don't take nails/picture hooks very easily) so I will be making some junk journals with pieces in them. The Cross Stitch Guild has some book kits so it is possible to make fabric books that way, too. I like doing nature themed pieces, though I've yet to try making a book.
@correganthecrone Жыл бұрын
I have definitely thought of that, and I enjoyed making my sewn pages, so I might add some to a book, although I think I will probably just leave sewing spells as stand alone items. I admire a cross stitcher, it’s very detailed and slow stitching!!

What a wonderful journal. I do enjoy all your mix media and have learned quit a bit from your videos. As a sewing teacher, I tend to do a lot with fabric in my journals. I know you said that this journal already had the fabric pages sewn into the signatures. Don't give up on using fabric in your journals. Might I suggest to make it a little easier for you, is to create fabric page design separate from the journal, then either sew or tip it into your journal. I've also created fabric books flat, then folded and sewed up the signatures. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work. Happy Creating.
@correganthecrone Жыл бұрын
Thank you! This book definitely made me consider creating pages and then sewing them into a journal, but I don’t think that would work for me, for the way I practice. BUT, I definitely plan to work more art magic using fabric and sewing! I think there’s a lot of potential there and I could make some great standalone projects!!! You’re a sewing teacher? That’s very very cool! Sewing has a unique magic all of its own!

Love love love the book. Your books are amazing. I try to make mine more arty like but it never happens like I imagine when I first start lol it's always lots of writing and not much art 🙄 I guess that's how they're meant to be. Your sentence 'I always relate to the witch' made me giggle . Carry on rambling because it's lovely hearing your little stories, it's like listening to a friend talking.

I've watched this video several times today whilst doing some sewing for my journal 😀. Its my favourite way to focus and relax. I hadn't seen The little Mermaid either, I can't relate to those sorts of "women " lol! I've always been drawn to the witch too, even if she terrified me! X

Oooh I want to make a murder board too now! 😀 Have you ever thought about creating (and publishing!) a tarot deck? Because your queens are awesome! I used to like The Little Mermaid as a kid but I can imagine rolling my eyes non stop if I would rewatch it now... I agree Ursula is cool though. I love how she's been reclaimed by several people recently.
@correganthecrone Жыл бұрын
The murder board was a lot of fun 🤩 I often think about creating a tarot deck actually. I think it will be something I undertake one day, but it’s a daunting task! I’m all for reclaiming Disney villains! I’d like to see the wicked stepmother’s version of Snow White, or how about the wicked witch from Hansel and Gretel? Her story’s got to be interesting!

I do agree with you that those string-murder-boards thingies looks awesome! I want one, but I don't really know what about... I think you can definitely rock one on your wall! :D Loved this video! You're so inspiring. :) And, I love your cat(s?) too! So sweet to hear him talk. :) About the creating on a fabric page... have you considered not to bind your pages until you're finished? Hold them together loosely with an elastic cord, but make the holes for the stitches before so they'll be easier to bind properly when finished. In that way you can remove the fabric page and work on it separately. :) Btw... I've just figured out the 'magic on the internet'... it's this. Finding people you connect to, learning, be inspired by each other and forming a friendship. Now how to put that on an art page... Hm...
@correganthecrone Жыл бұрын
They’re such fun, right? I chose to do influences on my witchy practice. Maybe that’s how you could interpret the Witch on the Internet prompt?! (Meghann told me that it was about community and I freaking love that!) I have thought about not binding pages until I’m finished, but I don’t think I would be happy with that, I think I will make any fabric and sewing art magic as individual pieces, I think that will work amazingly well for the way I work! My cats thank you- the noisy boy is Godric, the pushy princess is Nefertiti and the grumpy old man is Merlin 😽
