AGGGTM is my favourite book series of all time so having it on screen is everything to me. I’m in Australia so we’ve already had the show a month now. Asha portrayed Cara SO perfectly. No one could have done it like her. The way she adapted her onto screen was phenomenal. I was in tears watching Cara coming into school like that, you could tell Cara was so broken and she didn’t deserve any of that. God, I wanted to reach into the screen and give her the biggest hug. Asha did an amazing job portraying that. I really like that Ravi went and got Cara when he was worried about Pip- you could tell she still loves and cares for her despite everything and I think it was a really full circle moment for their friendship after everything they went through. The casting was absolutely elite and everyone was so perfect for their characters. I personally really thoroughly enjoyed the show!

I'm glad to see Asha Banks getting so much love for her performance as Cara. I know Pip and Ravi usually get all the spotlight, but in my opinion Cara's always been underrated and I couldn't be happier with her portrayal. Both her and Yasmin Al-Khudhairi as Naomi killed it as the Ward sisters. I only wish we could've seen Naomi's reaction after everything came out, but there's always room for that in future seasons. I felt the exact same way about the show and I'm happy to see a fellow fan of the series enjoy the show as much as I did!

She is crazy talented! I definitely agree- she’s my favourite character and so underrated and her storyline is too. Omg yes Yasmin did incredible too- they both did! And honestly the casting directors did such a great job as I’m surprised they aren’t real sisters they look so alike! I do agree- but I’m hoping if we get a season two we will see it then as i think Naomi’s response will be more of a domino effect. I’m so glad you enjoyed it too! We have to keep streaming so we can get a season two hehe.

As someone who hasn't read the book, I really liked this show. While I do feel that urge of wanting more, I feel like six episodes was a perfect amount. I have seen plenty of YA mystery shows (Riverdale S1, 13 Reasons Why, Pretty Little Liars, ect...) stretch things out for way too long. I'd dare to say that this show has the potential to be better than all of those other shows mentioned, especially if it finishes this series while maintaining this quality.

I would defiantly recommend you the books 😍🙈

I don't think they tried to make us sympathize for Elliot. I remember the writer stressing out that he was an adult that broke the trust of so many kids. Not just Sal and Andie, but also his daughters and Pip. They do show how tragic it is that one bad move (hooking up with Andie in the first place), one bad behavior (Jason being controlling), one emotional break (Elliott losing his wife) can derail everything. Makes us sympathize with Cara and Naomi, bc their dad just couldn't make a good choice

Agreed, it's wild how the whole series is more or less one long domino effect stemmimg from a few bad choices. I also don't think we're meant to sympathize with Elliot, though he himself tries to play the victim - blaming his actions on some arbitrary "evil" rather than owning up to them.

i wanted the becca and pip scene to be more like the book, it was emotional and suspenseful. my sympathy for becca in the book i really love the way it was written

One thing I definitely missed in that conversation was Pip confronting her about Barney. Leaving that part out made Becca feel far more sinister than she was in the book.

I wanted the part about her with Elliott in the old house asking why he killed her dog,him in pure confusion while getting handcuffed it was so unexpected,but the show made it feel less surprising

I have a theory that the stanley character is replaced by the character that helped pip twice (calamity party and the blue truck). We really did not get much information about them so i think its a possibility that they js converted stanleys character and made pip have a stronger connection to them so it makes more sense on why pip goes on a downward spiral after stanleys death
@ChannelNamePending6993 ай бұрын
That's an interesting theory and it does make sense, but if true that would certainly be one of the biggest changes and I'm not sure how I'd feel about it. I still really hope we get to see Stanley in season 2.

I dont know, this is my first time watching on screen adaptation of a book i read before, so i felt like i enjoyed the book way more, the show skipped so much, but on the other hand i liked the casting it was perfect
@ChannelNamePending6994 ай бұрын
That's fair! Agreed about the casting, this might be one of the few times where the show's actors replace my mental image of what the book characters look like for future rereads.

Personally, I loved it!!! 😄 Sure, there were a couple small things that I may have preferred in the books, or wish they kept, but overall it was a fantastic adaptation. The essence of the story & characters were still the same, which is the most important thing. And frankly, there were also a couple things I preferred in the show (like how we got to see Sal & Andie flashbacks). I've watched the show like 5 times now, and really hope we get more seasons! 🙏🤞

@@Nily8233 I loved the Andie and Sal flashbacks and honestly humanized Andie a lot more in my eyes!

@@Nily8233 The Sal & Andie flashbacks were such a welcome addition! I loved how they were used sparingly, at just the right moments so that they would be the most impactful. If we don't get season 2 (and 3) I'll be so upset lol

I loved itt I love that they portrayed Elliot more evil too and less redeemable

@@myxha6709Show's portrayal of Elliot was so sad, uncomfortable, and sinister. Really well done.
