This sounds like if used correctly it probably pairs well with James Gurneys Color and Light that goes into the why and how of color and light effects.

Thanks very much. Would the book be good for pencil art in the digital realm? I know the mixing process would be nonexistent but what about the other aspects?

Yes, absolutely. There is tons of information about how light changes color in different settings, color relationships, effects and perception. 3 of the 12 chapters are specific to paint/pigment, but the other chapters will be informative to your composition, theory, creating depth and realism. I even use some of these concepts with students when we are just working in black and white graphite.
