Teoh, what an absolutely beautiful book and thank you for showing it.. I'm a watercolor painter, but have tried my hand at colored pencils . Some of the experienced artists do wonderful work with them..

I love working with coloured pencils. I have lymphoma and Ovarian cancer and I get very tired as exhausted easily. I simply couldn't do my abstract mixed media art pieces anymore. So I needed to find a new medium where I can still be creative but wasn't so involved etc. I turned to watercolour and coloured pencil! It's perfect for me and coloured pencil artwork really is beautiful and very exciting and satisfying. I can't wait to see some of your work!

+It's Tammy! I feel that coloured pencil is more tedious than watercolour, especially when covering large areas

I love watercolors and colored pencil and they are a great compliment to each other in my sketching.

Nice review. I love these kind of books for the images, but find that so many of them lack detailed instructions and only a few good step by step examples. Most of them skip a lot of steps in those examples. These days I do find a detailed step by step video much more beneficial, I do learn a lot more from those. But there a few good books though I keep for reference.

wow I'm loving this book! Especially how this book introduces different style, where other books tend to focus on just 1.

Hi Teoh! I really love that you're developing an interest in colored pencils. I spent years working, professionally, using colored pencils and still adore my time with them. When I got into airbrushing, they were essential in refining areas and bringing out specific details. With watercolor, I often use them to create an added dimension to my work. If you're looking to buy, I highly recommend checking out Faber Castell Polychromos pencils, as they are (in my opinion) the best available, with Prismacolor being my next favorite. The best I ever used, which I still have, are Spectracolor pencils, which are no longer on the market. They were absolutely spectacular and I'm sad they can't be bought anymore. The book is stunning and I love the work shown in it. Thank you so much for the review! Helpful and insightful, for sure! Cheers! :)

I've a set of Polychromos. I spent a lot of time researching which brand to get and eventually got that. But I haven't used it much yet.

They are certainly a love/hate medium, especially when you're so versed with watercolor and/or markers. I look forward to any work you might produce with them. Also, just curious - will you be doing anything for the Inktober challenge? This will be my first. Cheers!
@teohyc7 жыл бұрын
I won't be doing the Inktober challenge. Just don't have the time for that. I'll be going on a sketching trip in October too. So I've to make some daily vlogs while I'm there. Next week's videos are going to be fun, that's if you like the travelogue videos. lol

The sketching trip sounds wonderful and I wish you the best in your adventure! Looking forward to the travelogues to come! Best wishes, Teoh! :)

Looks like a good book. I usually judge an art instruction book by the examples of art in the book. If they are exciting and beautiful then that counts a lot for me. Unfortunately I have so many books, I have hardly any more room. So I look for kindle books. This book is not on kindle, I believe.
